Furthermore, just because something is not illegal nor unconstitutional, does not mean that it's a good idea. A national policy of discriminating against muslims for entry to the US would be an enormous affront to the muslim nations of the world, and would damage US relations for many years to come. Such a strategy would need to have a very compelling reason to be enacted. Trump, however, has provided no such compelling reason. In fact, the *only* reason he has provided is the ambiguous "until we can figure out what is going on." In other words, he has no reason to ban muslims from entering the US except to provide his xenophobic supporters fuel for their ignorant hatred.
And, furthermore, waiting until Trump figures out what most learned people already know would take several lifetimes.

As far as people who conspire to commit crimes - we have law enforcement in place to root them out, whether they be mafia, mexican drug lords, or people of middle-eastern extraction. Law enforcement generally does an excellent job at this.
