After residents voted for Brexit, this British county realized the E.U. might stop sending them money
>The county is heavily dependent on the more than 60 million British pounds ($82 million) in E.U. subsidies per year that are transferred to the region and that have helped finance infrastructure projects and education schemes. Now, county officials are panicking — fearing the worst for the county's future and wondering why one of the most E.U.-dependent counties in Britain voted against the E.U. — and its money.
>"Leave" campaigners had previously reassured the county that it would not lose any subsidies if it left the E.U. However, Cornwall officials are now worried that such reassurances might have been little more than ill-thought-out promises.
LMAO

Brexit vote was a disaster. The good thing is, Brexit will never occur. Even those politicians who were pushing it now all regret it. UK/EU is too complex to unwind. So.. voted for nothing, brexiters.. deal with it. Also, no way in hell will Trump get elected. I usually don't vote, but I know that I have to vote in this election to defeat Trump.

This is no different than how Republican voters here vote for the party that screws them again and again. It's easy and free money to the Republican elite because conservative/religious people are so fucking stupid and easy to fool. Most are just white trash holding on their 'god and guns' mentality. Also, if Trump gets elected, he will fuck the people who voted for him even worse than a mainstream Republican would. Conservative white trash types are sooo stupid.
The EU needs to worry less about the UK and more about the leave contagion spreading to the rest of the members. France Netherlands and Denmark have a large quantity of anti EU supporters.

You do know that the NHS was one of the country's public sector institutions that was treated the worst under EU regulations, right? The pro-EU Tory government kept imposing massive cuts on its facilities and even in the recent Budget, Osbourne cut £1.1bn from the NHS repairs fund.
Then there's also that document that was filed in the European Parliament library almost exactly a year ago, specifically about TTIP. It says
>The EU reserves the right to adopt or maintain any measure with regard to the provision of all education, health or social services which receive public funding or state support in any form
That's a fucking big problem because one of the main aims of TTIP is to open up Europe’s public health, education and water services to US companies. This could essentially mean the privatisation of the NHS, and this derives from a trade agreement that was sanctioned between the EU and US.
I'm not saying that the NHS will miraculously return to its glory days by us leaving the EU, but it definitely can't get any worse than it's become under the EU.

Didn't say "could" friend, it said "let's fund the NHS". Lots of pro leave leaflets had headers styled after the NHS logo and look exactly like it from a distance, Cummings got in trouble for it with the Treasury. Sure, it's not saying "it will be given", but to the average voter it's the next best thing to a flat out promise. Also ffs it was 350 before rebate, but nobody would say it, even Gove didn't want to admit it.

From what I've gathered, the remain side just kept shooting themselves in the foot.
It seems that remain kept addressing concerns that people who were going to vote remain would have without bothering to take the teeth out of Leave's arguments and/or the remain camp was entirely disconnected with leave/neutral voters to the point where their arguments in favor of staying were more likely to sway people to leave.
If you're going to let everyone vote - rely on it, even - then don't let people blame the ignorant voters for your politicians failing to provide them with persuasive cases for their position.

this is how the "union" plays
they will try to threaten and bully Britain into staying, or ruin them as a warning to other countries
the thing is that the EU doesn't make money, period.
it simply taxes and re-distributes
so Britain loosing it's "funding" is really just another way of saying that britain won't pocket money from other European countries through the EU
the EU might try to threaten all the EU states into embargonising britain, or unfairly raising tarrifs, but that's not going to be in the interest of individual states

Our production was only relevant in a union with the Soviets and it depended on them funding it. Also, our companies werent even competatable with those of the West so even if they didnt get sold out and we kept the industrialization, we wouldn't profit from it. Now instead of depending on the USSR, we are dependant on the EU and the whole world. I don't think we got such a debt and keep in mind our economy improves with every single day.

Germany invented socialism, communism and group think.
Germans are an enemy of the individual, and forcing people into some hive city group mentality.
From Bismarck taking higher education and diluting it so that everyone can get in, to the welfare state and permanently taxing people to distribute wealth to losers rather than only raising taxes when there is a big state wide project, to total war and the idea of a nation at war, mobilizing all individuals in favor of a state project, rather than letting people opt in or out, Germany has always been for a very strong state and government, and a very weak individual.
Should've wiped them from the map.

Who cares about competing with the fucking west? If we had kept just a little of our industrial buildings we wouldnt be sucking EU cock for loans right now.

Why is this better? Why is being even more dependant than before a good thing? You look at debt like we dont have much now, but it can only keep rising untill our "improving" economy cant keep up.

If we can't comete with the west in a globalized world where we are even in a union with the EU, this outdated low quality production would still force us to import. Not to say that we cannot export some outdated commie shit
>Why is this better? Why is being even more dependant than before a good thing? You look at debt like we dont have much now, but it can only keep rising untill our "improving" econom
We are not more dependant. We were literally a puppet state of the USSR and with a free market instead of becoming dependant, we get mutual cooperation and less exploitation.
Debt isn't really much of a problem. Especially when we are not dependant on loans.

nothing to do with leave campaign. If a future government wants to spend the money on healthcare, it can spend it on healthcare. If it doesn't, then it will spend it on something else. That's the entire point of leaving: Britain can spend its money how it wants to and not how the EU wants it to

I feel compelled to chime in here
high pound gives you more buying power internationally
but that also means that local businesses can't compete with cheap imports, and it makes British exports un-afordable to the rest of the world.
the market is dropping, because big business is afraid that they might be tarrifed, nobody knows who will loose and win from this deal
so the very very rich's portfolios are looking very very risky

I think I'm free to say that the leave side's economic planning was misleading to the general public and will affect me negatively in the years to come. I'll be very glad if I were wrong and I don't suffer for it, but the results so far seem to be aligned with with what was predicted. If this trend continues, the near future won't be good, we have no idea what sort of renegotiations we'll be pursuing and the insecurity won't be good for our economic outlook.
>>78792789

British exports are already turds to begin with, unfortunately. I wish it weren't so, but we are extremely reliant on importing. The pound being lower is going to seriously screw us on this front until the renegotiations are done.
Hell, imports and exports aside, the biggest worry is the financial services which we rely on more than most other shite. With the way things are going it seems almost certain it's ether gonna be EEA for us, in which case we preserve passporting and free movement, or we get screwed over without it and say goodbye to at least a solid chunk of our financial service.s

>I really hope you dont believe this. However, we are not dependant on loans, yet.
In mutual cooperation both sides have the weight to not fuck up. In exploitation one side is more favoured. A prime example is the USSR fucking around with some of its former colonies without giving a shit or the UK in its imperial days. Right now we are moving towards a positive future.

I could personally cover the debts of our universities, they just take a few tens of thousands to fix their windows.
You act as if Bulgaria is owned by Germany, when we take about a billion euro per year at most, everything included in it.
There are football players and video game companies that could pay off our EU debt. Its fucking states we are talking about here, numbers are very high.
Poland has a few times the size of our economy, yet several tens of times the EU debt. We are pretty tame when it comes to taking money.
>>78793561
>British exports are already turds to begin with
>we are extremely reliant on importing
guess why haha, high pound.
tell me, does britain make a net loss or gain from the EU
(if you think a net gain pro tip; everyone thinks they are winning)
in the short term you might hurt from under-supply as import costs rise
but that gap will be filled with British production that can finally compete, and high pries will help them initially
and you will find that as non-EU states, you can bargain with european nations on a 1:1 basis
>>78787623

London would lose a solid bit of its bargaining power if it were to leave the Common market due to passporting. If we lose the bank passporting rights, we are kinda screwed. EU won't budge on them without applying everything else in the common market. Switzerland didn't get it because they'd drain everything away from Frankfurt, and if we were to lose it, I can only see companies actively considering Paris or Frankfurt instead of keeping them as contingency ATM

>>78793911
Yeah, that 60% rise in bus ticket prices really shows how good we have it. Taxes get higher while the debt goes "lower". All their doing is evening out the scales so that they can keep pocketing money at our expense.

yeah me too, he seems really smart>>78788098
>>78793921
Oh I'm not saying it's otherwise, I do hate that we're so reliant on imports and fucking usury. I feel it'd take us more than a decade or two if we had a non-common-market-reliant deal to get near non-painful levels when trade is concerned, during which our pound issue would hurt like hell. Also while we could negotiate with the EU nations, it'd be nowhere near what we have right now, since no common market access.
>>78794492
>Its always going to be the same. The bigger and richer will always exploit and controll the weaker and poorer. Dosnt matter if we're in a union or not, if we dont do as we're told we get sanctioned. Same shit, different color.
Poor and rich is a spectrum. We have the chance to be more free. and balance our partners so we don't become dependant.
>>78794218
No problem buddy, since the English left they've been giving Us banter lessons.
>>78794492
Bus ticket prices in one city are not taxes. Nobody is forcing you to pay for bus tickets. Don't like the price, don't use the service.
Regardless, ticket prices rise because
>they were too low compared to everywhere else, adjusted for income
>they are hard to collect, since most people ride for free
>less and less people ride, meaning less and less buy
>alternative means of transport further reduce the income of bus companies, like metro and Uber taxis
Overall you are being too cynical without having any understanding of business, organization or politics, and you remind me of my unemployed uneducated uncle sitting home drunk shouting at the TV.
>>78794696
We should pick better partners then.
>>78794540
well something that the EU doesn't want people to realize is that they didn't just invent free market access, they monopolised it
you can have free access to any market you want provided they agree, there is nothing to stop overlapping free trade areas
once countries start, the benefits of the EU will become weak in comparison to the new and simple systems of free trade
the EU will have to show their true col lours by forbidding member states to participate
