evolution is an extremely ambiguous word, one look at the talk page of wikipedia on the evolution article will pretty much tell you this is true.
small changes over time is something that has been observed, in fact reproduction produces a sort of evolution by creating novelty.
It's the idea of Common Ancestry/Descent that has no real scientific basis, they use phylogeny and comparison to construct a tree of life that is not founded upon scientific methodology but of cum hoc and post hoc fallacies. No matter how objective they claim cladistics is, the fundamental error will always be in the assumption that similarity inherently implies causation or similarity is a cause in and of itself.
