It's forced on students all through school and most come out hardly being able to string a sentence together after 11 years, but know just enough to pass an exam for the government to say they have a protected language that needs more funding.

Irish is our mother tongue and our first language, technically. English is most definitely our 2nd language, even if fuck all of the population speak Irish fluently.
