With switserland withdrawing their application and brexit now happening as well. The "mood" for pro eu things now may be negative. Meaning that the chances of other exits happening being greater as well.
But from what I understand, the EU already kinda didnt want the UK. When merkel spoke it seemed like an almost neutral thing to her. Meaning that whether or not the UK remained or left, it wouldnt matter that much to her.
Perhaps that is why the results were left to "chance", aka the people.

It will shake things up but it won't break the EU. GB got lots and lots of preferential treatments out of the EU and yet they've chosen to isolate themselves read decide to be not european, which actually makes sense history wise. No other EU country has the means or the background to do that.
