Okay /pol/, I've seen a lot of baby boomer hate on this and other similar websites. 4chan, reddit, tumblR...All of these websites that appeal to millenials.
And I get it, we were pretty harsh on the generation that preceded us as well, but nothing like what I am seeing here. The kind of hate I'm seeing is similar to the hate the Nazis showed the Jews before they were rounded up and summarily gassed. I want to try to stop that from happening by explaining some of the good we accomplished.
It is true, every generation has disdaid for the generations surrounding it, and ours was no different. We fought against the strict nuclear family with free love, not hate. We fought against racism by ending segregation, not by *being* racist (as so many of you seem to be). We stopped being nationalists, and understood that we are all one people.
It may not be easy for some of you to accept, but what we did was good. Can you imagine a world where Germany had never been defeated in WWII? Can you imagine a world where we launch wars against countries that don't deserve it, like Vietnam?
We were the draft dodgers. We were the free-lovers. We stopped stagflation in the 70s, and ushered in an economic boom in the 80s.
We are the baby boomers, and we deserve a bit more respect than you're giving us!

Secondly there are still plenty of resources to go around. We have drained nothing, and in fact, added more to the world than any other generation before or since.

Problems that can be laid directly at our feet. Housing prices. Back in the 90's President Clinton was under the impression that everybody deserved a home. Low to no interest loans, no credit checks and the demand for housing and the price soared. Consider that a tax that has been passed on to you.
Government retirement. Back in the early 80's a civil servant made less money but had job security and a good retirement. Then they got a union demanded more and more and now you will get to pay that retirement. Police and fire really make the money.
Open border. The labor pool has an extra 11 million or so people that just showed up to work and send money back to their home country. Their kids are in school which you are paying for and they are holding jobs that you could have. Never made much sense to me and why the younger generations have not gone ape shit over this shows a weakness which means they kind of have it coming. NAFTA also screwed you.
Obama care. Why would anybody in their right mind who owns a business hire you for 40 hours a week, then government calls 32 hours a week full time and pay you insurance? Yep you are stuck with part time work, less then 32 hours a week and your insurance has gone up.

Gen-X here. This site is obviously 90% millenials. I can tell from the number of bogus comments on /vr/, and also how the majority of them consider 90's stuff is nostalgic and at the same time consider 80's and 70's stuff archaic garbage (needless to say that's when Gen-X was in childhood, not the 90's).
