the brexit must be rigged so that they stay no matter what right?

yep

even if we vote leave and cameron rejects it and says we must stay, it's not like we can rise up on our government or anything seeing as we're completely disarmed

Wait so it's not a binding referendum?
>>
The morning news said that Cameron made the following two threats:

1. If you vote leave then we will tank the market (i.e. all your investments, life savings, pensions, and whatever else the government provides for your.)

2. You will have terrorism.

Wow, what a lad! You guys had better brexit the fuck out of that literal pigfucker.

>vote remain or we wreck all your shit
Wow, so very democratic.

Hahahha, no.

This is a non-binding referendum. If this was binding, it would mean that our overlords would actually have to listen to what it says.

This is more of an advice to give to the government. An opinion at best.

So they will burn down their own country and open the flood gates to the hordes at calais.

It is like they aren't even trying anymore.

Isn't that basically what the EC """officially""" does?

No referendum can be binding in the UK. The closest they can get is if the government promises to respect the referendum, but the government is not bound to keep its promise.

The issue is the source of sovereignty. In, say, France, sovereignty comes from the people, and is exercised by their representatives in the national assembly. In the UK the people may elect parliament, but they are not sovereign. Sovereignty rests solely with (the Crown in) Parliament, which means constitutionally the only constraint on any action of government is approval by the two houses and royal assent.
