Interesting question. I don't think Japanese people want to export their REAL culture. We like seeing westerners enjoy things like karaoke and ninja and anime. However deep down Japanese people are very elitist. We're not trying to really teach or manipulate the world. We are just set in our ways.
There are lots of good books on Japanese culture in Japanese obviously, but I'm not sure about ones in English or Spanish. There may be good translations somewhere. Let me think about this some more.
