I'm about to join US Army Infantry.

Before I make this decision, I'd like to know from some of you militarybros what to expect out of the moment military. Any of you guys in?

What should a meme loving fuck like me expect?

I'm joining because I am 18 and have no parents, too poor for college and have nothing at all. Is this a good choice to make?

What are good jobs in the military?
>>
Hope you enjoy it and become a lifelong military man and become a general.

Do your best, friend.
>>
>>78253784
Try /k/ they will red pill you on everything military better than most of us who are shit posting about politics.
>>
>>78253784
Jesus fucking Christ if they ask you if any of you can drive don't fucking raise your godamn hand. Also learn to eat as fast as possible by mixing water and then taking bites of food.

For the love of God don't Fuck up in basic and finish it. It is all mental.
>>
bumping this because I'm joining the Chair Force (as an officer) in a few months
>>
>>78253784
If you're going to go infantry than join the marines. Marines are basically navy SEALS
>>
>>78253784
basic is piss easy these days, i got out like 6 months ago and finished AIT. just dont be a little bitch to your battle buddies.

>What are good jobs in the military?
none for your dumbass. what did you score on asvab?

The main reason I'm joining is because of my goal to make a /pol/ony. I'm the guy that would post Redpilgrim threads.

I need money for land so my brothers can go innawoods with me, and if be a better operator if I sold my soul for 4 years to get ~60k. Wageslaving can't provide pure profit like that

The /pol/only group is still running, the first thread we made was a year ago.

>>78253970
Explain this 'don't raise your hand' meme, about the driving
>>
>>78254211
I scored a 90 on the asvab
>>
9 years as a cav scout left me all sorts of broken, mentally and physically, but I have a decent job after getting out a few years ago and benefits for the rest of my life. You get what you put in.
>>
>>78254312
you'll get a eesemi shit job, don't sign for anything that doesn't give a bonus since you need the cash. I signed for 92f got 15k bonus and stupid loan shit.

do you have any specific questions about anything?
>>
>>78254513
What will my day to day be? I'm 18, I spend a lot of time indoors, I like 4chan and internet memes.

Will there be people that I can stand in there with me? Should I get a smart people job to avoid idiots?

>>78254418
Was looking I to Cav scout (11D?) today. What was it like? I actually really want to know this. What did you do?
>>
>>78253784
>11B
Got out in 2009, shit was already getting pretty soft at that point.
You'll be fine, just hope you don't end up at Drum.
>>
>>78253784
Don't draw attention to yourself
Guys will pull fucking pranks on you

One story
At our camp we lifted my friend bed as he was sleeping and we tapped him on it and drifted him on the river
Dude woke up screaming

I served 5 years in the Army OP

Your time in the Army is exactly what you make it and your mind set. You will have opportunity to do amazing things that will stay with you for your entire life. Be selfless, try and care about what your doing and the people around you. Serve with honor, because when your done you want to look back with pride. People around you will hate the Army, hate PT, hate missions etc. Don't hang around them, don't make them your friends. Work hard and get promoted. The game changes after you make SGT and it's a lot better imo.

P.S. Nothng can really prepare you for the hours, days, years of struggles you will face but work on your character and you'll come out a leader.

Good luck OP

Go 11x because its the only combat arms job that you will actually get regular training in. you will shoot every two weeks at least. shoot and train on all weapons platforms. have access to any specialty school you want ahead of any cuck scouts ect. You are going to be just as broke in the military as you would working a min wage job 60 hours a week... only you will be working like 80 a week average. You will get out and no one will see you for the operator you are and it will be frustrating. None of your friends will get your jokes or wanna train with you. They wont wanna listen to you or understand your practices. You will feel at home where others dare not venture. Being a infantryman is a life choice and its not to be done for anyone but yourself.

What you're most-likely going to do like every other jerk-off who had no future is do guard duty and then come home to waste the brief moment of welfare.
>>
>>78255858
11B or 11 Bravo is the MOS (job classification) you are when you go infantry.
Fort Drum in upstate NY.
Most deployed division in the Army.
Cold as fuck, but Kingston is just over the Canadian border. Pussy galore.
>>
>>78255192
19D. I was in a stryker unit when the dod was dumping money into them like crazy. We rode around doing route clearance and cordon for whatever the hell it was needed for at the time. Boring as fuck 90% of the time but the only 10% is a trip

Thank you guys. I appreciate your posts, full of good things to look into. More like these would be appreciated for myself and others looking to make similar decisions.

>>78256082
Thanks for the clarification friend. Where have you been and what have you done with 11B?
>>
>>78253784
It's a great way for a young person to get started in life. Good luck and congrats, OP.
>>
>>78256272
Ah. I read that Cav Scout was becoming obsolete and not useful anymore due to tech advancement. Guess the stories line up, you weren't busy 90% of the time.
>>
>>78256082
Dude, drum is as cold as balls man. The area around it used to be a bunch of really teeny towns, up until fort drum popped up
>>
Yeah, I did Infantry.

Alpha 2-58 4th platoon Warriors

Senior Drill Sergeant Ramirez
Drill Sergeant Coss

It was fun
>>
>>78256282
At basic training, please don't look at the planes, eat ice cream, or touch your face
>>
>>78253959
He wont even make intl the rank of Sarge. To become general you dont just draft, you go to school
>>
>>78256282
I did two tours in Iraq, one was 16 months because they extended our deployment.
Honestly I haven't done anything with it career-wise, I do IT currently.
It did make getting a job much easier, as people like to hire vets, particularly if they are vets themselves.
I used the VA for school and a home loan.
The most important thing I got out of it is a sense of my potential and limitations. Knowledge of self. You'll laugh at stuff that causes civies to flip their shit.
It can also be fun as fuck, there's no civilian equivalent to some of the experiences you'll have.
>>
>>78256783
Did you end up physically damaged?
Would you recommend it for an 18 year old /pol/ack?
>>
Find the right motivation, actually believe in the bull shit they're spewing and try to be the best. I knew a guy that was an 11B and he said that whole "never try to stick out, just put your head down" is bull shit. It sets you up for a future of shamming out and scraping by. Yeah, maybe you'll get shit on every now and then, but if you actually are better than your peers, people will look up to you. Also if you're better than your peers, be humble and don't be a fucking weirdo.

Be the best you can be, be helpful to others, and keep your nose out of trouble and you'll be an E4 in no time.

Stepping up to E5 is a big deal but it's when the job gets serious. You're a true leader so you have to act like it. Then the army goes from a 630-1600 to your whole life, but it can be a great experience.

But what the fuck do I know, I'm just a butter bar
>>
Do any of you anons know if I would get medically DQ'd for a surgery on a broken finger?

>yes I broke it in a fight
>>
>>78253784
I just enlisted as a paralegal specialist if your're looking for a good job and are out of shape I'd suggest finding something like MP, Intelligence, or medical. Those kind of jobs give you a lot more skills for a after army career than cav scout or infantry.

That's quite a career plan you have there.

You guys have me sold on Infantry.

Men go to war, it's what men do. I want to be strong and prepared at my prime, and I want to be able to tell my son some badass stories.

>I qualified for Army Interrogator, was offered to me
That seems up my alley, but I don't know. It's hard to trade the fun and adrenaline for interrogation (which would also be fun)
>>
>>78257387
I met a few wash outs in EOD school, I guess the school is pretty hard.
>>
Good luck, OP. Make sure to read 'metaphysics of war' by Julius Evola.
>>
>>78257387
>Interrogator
You could probably use that in civilian life I'd think. Maybe as a policeman or working in a HR department or something.
>>
>>78253784
If you like killing go infantry, not sure how deployments are these days though.
If you want a career when you get out that doesn't involve being a contractor to go overseas again and kill more then go into a skilled trade in the military.
You can go to ollege while in. Fucming do it. No excuses. Get halfway through a bachelors, drop a green-gold packet then go commission as an officer.
Every officer I met that was worth their salt had previously been enlisted. Everyone who's anywhere in the military should be required to be enlisted before going to any special program or commission.
>>
>>78253784
Watch your step in Ft. Benning, especially around Sand Hill. Broke my leg during a ruck march in that area, fucker never healed properly. Better yet, don't get injured: They'll invent an excuse to force you out.

I went to training with a guy that had a finger permanently curled after slicing a tendon. You'll be fine.
>>
>>78258844
Ok cool so I can pass through MEPS with it in my medical record though? I haven't gotten it operated on yet so I'm planning to do that then enlist sometime after I rehab from the procedure

>>78258916
oh sweet, thats kind of like what I got right now; I got a boxer's break that didn't heal right so I can't make a fist without my pinky knuckle sticking out

The reason to not raise your hand is going to save your ass a lot of excess drilling. If they ask it and you still raise your hand then remember the anon who is calling you an idiot.
>>
I read that Navy men hold clipboards and coffee cups to seem busy on ship. If they look idle a superior will fish out work to them.

Some guys grandpa did this his whole 8 years in, and the coffee cup trick permanently bent his fingers downward.

No real point, just found it interesting. Post military life hacks pls
>>
>>78259010
I went through a while back, but I can't see how it would matter.
>>
>>78259277
I'm just wondering if they teach you hand-to-hand as part of basic or any other kind of training, because I'm concerned I can't throw a punch for shit with my pinky all fucked up and I'm not a southpaw

If I wanted to go for 11x like opie is doing, I mean
>>
Better option for you. Go Marines, keep your nose clean in your first unit, and volunteer for Marine Security Guard duty ASAP. Enjoy three years overseas living like a fucking king with maids, chauffeurs and cooks as you slay foreign sluts all over the planet.
>>
>>78259410

they teach you basic combatives, which is mostly grappling and teaching you to keep your head in a fight.

in real situations, it all comes down to 'who's buddy shows up with a gun first'
>>
hack is that big time tripfag on r9k, o shit waddup

considering where you come from this all seems out of character. military?
>>
>>78259410
In training you might do pugil sticks and some beginner lv .5 combatives.
>>
>>78259410
You do minimal combative training in basic.
I had a repaired umbilical hernia and broken knuckle when I went in, and was fine.
>>

I was 25.
>>
>>78259650

the oldest guy in my BCT platoon was 37, and there were at least 5 30+ year olds, and there was 1 E4 in AIT that was 39, turned 40 while he was there

i personally went at 26. my first squad sergeant was 4 years younger than me

Recently retired at the rank of Captain in the QAF 1 Special Forces Battalion (كتيبة القوات الخاصة - no official name in English but we were referred to as "Djinns").

Not hugely relevant to you, but feel free to ask any questions - I attended Sandhurst (British equivalent of WestPoint) so I may be able to answer some questions.

Your body is going to regret your decision to be infantry, grunt life ages you quick.

You can expect to get worked to the bone and party your ass off, I hear nowadays they focus a lot on PC shit even in the infantry so who knows.

Try not to be some faggy sperg, not fitting in will make your time miserable.

Above all don't forget, you ain't shit til your sleeve ain't slick no more.

If you don't have any parents and too poor for college and you are not a complete retard GO INTO THE AIR FORCE.

If you must go into the military go into the air force. You can learn something useful in a technical field.

Army you are going to be around a bunch of morons.
