Americans literally have the most retarded traffic laws, which I guess makes sense because the average burger has no idea how to drive on a real road. Stops and traffic lights at every fucking intersection. Ever hear of a yeild sign, burgers? I bet none of you even know who has the right of way at an uncontrolled intersection in pic related.
>slav drivers
>good
We've all seen the youtube dashcam videos coming from your part of the world, don't think you can fool us.

What's next? Are you going to ban rope because it can be used to hang someone? Perhaps ypu will regulate it so it breaks if you use more than 10 pounds of force but wait! What if someone hangs a kid who weighs less than 10 pounds?
>>78141025
I'll concede that in some cases roundabouts are not worth it.
However at the majority of 4-way intersections, especially those with stop signs, roundabouts are a vast improvement.

>>78142038

No automatic as an option is relic tier technology.
"The newest automated manual gearboxes shift faster and more appropriately than almost any driver can accomplish with a manual gearbox. It rev matches on downshifts and always seems to be in the appropriate gear. And since the automation for the gearbox includes a level of intelligence (without the accompanying ‘red mist’) they won’t destroy themselves in an ill-chosen downshift from sixth to second on the track."
>>78142268
They exist but people are complacent and let the lights and signs do the work. This is why there are so many accidents that are caused by 'well I didn't think you were going to go' or some variation of it.
In the absence of lights or signs people suddenly become attuned. I think there was some study that showed the same thing.

Multi-lane roundabouts with traffic light systems.
They work at motorway intersections between cities, Americans don't have the need for this since an intersection midway between 4 or 5 large cities will be in the middle of no-where with no traffic flow.
In the UK this might only be 5-10miles out and teh traffic flow ill be pretty high still.

America has most advanced animal manipulation studies, therefore the first driving monkeys would come from America. As monkeys are stupid, and prototypes are usually inferior, one can conclude that these monkeys would be stupid, and would originate in America. Assuming the American instructors were intelligent enough to teach the monkey to drive on the right, one would say that stupid monkeys would drive on the right. As you state that one cannot prove you wrong, the monkey has been taught to drive on the wrong side of the road. Therefore American instructors are too stupid to teach a monkey to drive on the correct side of the road for their country.
Therefore Americans are stupid.

Must be sad to be a lazy cuck that can't efficiently shift gears and use the clutch.
>>78143565
>Look at this typical American street with typical American traffic
>Everything is exactly the same as everywhere else, only with more automatic transmissions
Ok.
I've never cared for stick shift cars. They just aren't my thing.
I've driven a few manuals in the past and I don't like how long it takes to engage the gear and get moving. I like to zip around and move when I want to move.
With manual you have to re-engage 1st gear every time you stop. And that probably takes me a good 3-5 seconds. With auto you just step on it and you're gone.
You can also tell when you're behind somebody with a manual car because in the time it takes them to engage the gear and start accelerating, everybody in front of them is already gone. And every time you want to upshift you have to let off the gas, clutch in, shift, and re-engage the next gear, causing you to slow down and possibly disrupt traffic behind you. Not to mention trying to start on hills and whatnot.
Manuals just seem so antiquated in my opinion. They feel slower and less responsive compared to modern-day automatics. I don't really understand the fascination behind them, automatics take only a fraction of a second to upshift whereas a manual takes like 2-4 seconds to upshift (depending on experience or skill level, of course).
Even though you have more "control" over which gear you want to be in, it takes longer to shift and engage the gear than it would in an automatic. Most modern automatics are also pretty intuitive and are able to sense what you're trying to do depending on throttle input and the speed at which the throttle is applied.
Whenever people talk about how much they enjoy manual, I don't understand why. In my opinion, it's kind of a pain in the ass how you have to do all that work to get moving and the guy next to you in the automatic is already gone. Like, why would you row a boat when you could get one with a motor on the back for the same price.
What makes a manual car enjoyable? Maybe some people also think it makes them look "tough", or like they are a professional driver, but speaking from my experience manuals seem like a big pain in the ass.
>>78143588
>Manual is still better for most Europeans though

if you ever get in a situation where your engine is malfunctioning and need to get the fuck away AKA sitting on railroad tracks, you can use the starter to roll off the tracks even if the engine itself doesn't work.
you also get better control over how much braking you're doing with the motor, if for some reason you would want to motorbrake more or less.
you also get to stay in a higher gear at lower speeds if you know there's a reverse incline coming, something a lot of autos wouldn't let you
you also get a better sense of the cars state, whether the gearbox needs maintenance or not.
you also get to rev your engine.

it's not a great achievement
anyone with a bit of a brain would know how to drive a manual. there are no bragging rights associated with knowing how the fuck a car works, there's nothing special about not breaking your car every time you shift gears.
being able to handle a manual shift car isn't about having a superior mode of transport (although if you want more control over your car it's definitely preferable), it's about not having the equivalent car knowledge of a 16 year old girl.

At one time all cars were standard, but eventually we developed something better. That's what we do. Improve things.

Wew. I came across a stop sign in the wild yesterday.. That's like a twice-a-year occurance for me. I only know of 1 near my house, and I rarely pass that one... My driving instructor used to take special detours to even get past a stop sign so I could practise it, just because they're so uncommon. Roundabouts are the standard here.. Why force everyone to stop, even if there's no other traffic?

Until euro fags can learn how to make their country cow roads suitable as 2 lane roads the way they treat them I will simply disregard their opinions when it comes to most things regarding roads and traffic rules.

I live in a trailer park with an uncontrolled intersection. when two cars approach simultaneously, either they both stop for a long time, or one starts to go and then the other pulls out in front of it. the speeds are so slow that we don't actually crash, but it does seem like we are all retarded.
and for the record, there actually is a law in my state (NC), because there used to be lots of uncontrolled intersections: if you both get there at the same time, the driver on the right has the right-of-way.

>>78139714
What is this?
A road for cucks?
I guess European roads accurate describe the state of Europe - a state of chaos all while on the wrong side.
>>78145633
Sorry, should have clarified. Traffic from the right takes priority here too, but we also have rules that relate to traffic going straight take priority to those that are making a turn, and the 'short turn' (meaning you don't cross another lane) takes priority over a 'long turn' (usually a left hand turn that you have to cross another lane for)
>>78145514
Here in the US we pass on the left, dude. The rightmost lane should be going the slowest, each lane to the left should be progressively faster. That's what keeps traffic moving.
If you don't drive this way, you create traffic congestion as no one can move forward.
>driving on the left
>>78145364
I would suspect that the trailer park is officially considered private property and not a public roadway, sorta' like a parking lot. This might explain the lack of signage.
I actually had a cop tell me that, in a parking lot I wasn't LEGALLY obligated to stop at the stop signs because it was private property, and the laws of public roads don't apply. I imagine I could still get sued (or at least held liable) if I ran the stop sign and hit someone, though.

>>78145644
Yeah, some states are retarded.
But in most it's legal.
Although, it is preferred to pass on the left.
Usually these people just remember "keep your lane" and they just stay in the same lane forever regardless of what happens on the road.
They missed the part where it says that "keep your lane" means don't switch lanes constantly and for no reason, but switch to right if other traffic is going faster than you.
>>78145778
>we also have rules that relate to traffic going straight take priority to those that are making a turn,
I'm not sure that american laws actually care about signals in that circumstance, as someone can have their signal on by accident. you are required to signal, of course, but you can't really trust the other guy.
years ago when I had my learner's permit which means you have to have a parent in the car, I signaled to turn and was actually turning when my day yells "YOU CAN'T MAKE IT GO STRAIGHT". of course I almost plowed into the car that had started to pull out, who probably wanted to chase me down and beat the shit out of me. my dad was not the smartest guy in the world.

>>78145965
Like I said in a different post, this is just a misunderstanding of the concept of "keep your lane".
It's is legal to pass on the right in many states, but it is preferred that you pass on the left.
So if some dumbass is going 50 MPH in the left lane you can legally pass him on the right.
But ideally that idiot would be in the right lane and you could pass on the left.
The whole keep your lane is to reduce the number of lane switches if they are not needed.
If you are going slower than traffic in your lane you should switch or speed up.
>>78145965
Yeah, its an cultural thing not an actual law. Like how you're supposed to let ever other car go when two lanes are merging, like a zipper.

The real secret is in taxing cars to hell and back, and then applying the sales tas (21%) over the car price+car tax, rather than on the base price. You then invest that money in roads and refugee shelters, and enjoy deminished traffic.
Also INSANELY high fines for meager traffic offenses, so that our government makes BILLIONS of euro's on automatic tickets that calculate the average speed of cars on certain stretches of roads which generates countless +5km fines.

Bicycle lanes are common in cities, and otherwise are legally supposed to share the road with other vehicles.
Public transport is everywhere in cities and their suburbs, and it's not difficult to catch a train or bus longer distances.

There are over 100 different road signs.
Have you memorized all of them?
>>78147427
I hate that shit, people who are right behind you glued to your asshole and don't respect the minimum safety distance.
>>78147736
Yeah, like somewhere in Trondelag where they have fucking 7 roundabouts in a fucking row.
Some places in Norway go full retard, and build a roundabout every year to deplete their budgets. Others build 30 mill NOK diving platforms (not corrupt at all).

Most fines for low level traffic offenses aren't formally fines, they're settlement offers from the Justice department... You could choose to not accept it, and appeal (first administrative, if they still leave the ticket standing you can go to court if you please), but most people don't because if a speed camera captures your car going over the limit after a legal correction, you're almost always made to pay the fine, even if you didn't drive. Car registered in your name? -> Your responsibility... If you get pulled over the driver gets the fine, but if it's based on a speed camera or something it goes to the owner.
Side effect of this is that they can ONLY give you fines based on photo's, and not other penalties. If you're actually stopped by police in certain circumstances (going 50km over the limit or driving drunk are the most common ones) police actually seize your license on the spot, and you need to request/beg our driving-matters agency to get it back.

Stop signs are rare in my area, its either a light or you're driving.

seattle is way worse. i have lived in both cities.

Most American probably do know how to drive a manual if you explain to them that it's kind of like a lawnmower.
>>78148186
>There are over 100 different road signs.
No doubt.
>Have you memorized all of them?
The ones relevant to my traffic situations, yes... Very rarely do I come across a sign I don't know, and usually they're specific ones indicating to traffic-groups I don't belong to like pic related..
Are you telling me you regularly pass signs you don't understand while partaking in traffic?

Sonofa........ Creating a giant bullseye that can be seen from space.
Fuck yah that triggers us. We have an ICBM for ya whenever you want to build it Adolf Jr.
>>78148376
does that mean there's a hole in the road?
most of the time you can just follow the flow of traffic and don't even need to pay attention to the signs
>>78141664
Ever heard of paddle shifters you fucking moron. They're faster than manuals and give you just as much control over your engine. There is literally no reason to own a manual car anymore
>>78148470
No, it's a sign only meant for drivers of vehicles that carry dangerous goods, like petrol tankers, chemical tankers etc. Left sign means 'dangerous loads follow this route' and the left one means 'special route for dangerous loads ends', meaning they can pick all routes again.
>>78148215
I live 100m from one of those if you're talking about Byåsen.
You have no idea how much worse it was before them. The amount of traffic over here is insane.

in my opinion, acquiring a license should be way, way more difficult
There are so, so many fucking idiots on the road. It's truly amazing up here in canuckland. It's dangerous to drive where I live, I've heard people that aren't from around here say it's quite bad. There are a lot of seniors and also a lot of students in a small city, which is a terrible combination in regards to driver safety.
People run red lights all the fucking time. People run stop signs all the fucking time. People ignore yield signs. You will be sitting at a light waiting to turn left and the advance green will come on and only three cars out of the 20+ waiting will get through because people aren't paying attention. It's horrible.
Roundabouts are good if everyone held themselves to my own personal standard, but they fucking don't. So many people are terrible drivers, which makes roundabouts a giant pain in the ass. Don't let drivers decides for themselves, just fucking tell them exactly what to do and be done with it

Yellow means construction here, not orange. Orange means danger.
>i dont get that dangerous load feel from it at all desu
Probably because you're not actually licensed and qualified to transport ADR freight in Europe... Going out on a limb here though.
>pic is what construction/road works signs and lines look like
Some places in NY I've been had yellow lining normally, which fucked with me.
>>78139714
Americans don't really drive, I mean did you ever look at their roads ? That's like Autopia but with bigger cars.
That's why they can drive at 16 btw.

>in my opinion, acquiring a license should be way, way more difficult
What does getting a license entail in Canada?
In the Netherlands it's pretty expensive and intensive.. Like 20-30 hours of driving with an instrucor, a theorhetical test and a driving exam that's fairly strict. Getting the whole shebang for <€1000,- is pretty challenging (do-able, but not easy).
Might be cheaper elsewhere though, but I live in a pretty expensive bit of the country.
>>78148880
>judgment of his peers
We don't have juries of peers though.. And like I said, you're welcome to appeal.. It's just that the chance of actually getting out from under automatic fines like that are near 0. Unless you had a dying person in your car that needed to go to the hospital, any excuse is going to fall short.
>>78142267
>folding knives are illegal
Why? They're children's toys. I have like 5 of them. Theres one on my bed side table right now. They are supremely useful
>you get fined and sent to prison in the UK for opening a package because the knife you used was "illegal"
And you pieces of shit have the fucking gall to mock us
>>78149153
it's very easy here.
a written exam you can challenge, a driving exam you can challenge, eight months of only being allowed to drive with someone who has a full license (you begin with a partial license), and then another written exam and another driving test.
That's it, now you have a license forever.
People don't approach driving as a skill that they need to develop up here. They get in their car, get comfy and just zone out. Like people don't actively try to get better at it, at all. If you went out and picked random 42 year old women who all have full time jobs and watched them drive, chances are they'll all be fucking terrible, despite having a few thousand hours of experience.
It's honestly insane. Driving is the only skill I can think of where it is common for somebody with thousands of hours of experience to be completely fucking terrible at
>>78149280
>We don't have juries of peers though
jesus christ, they don't even pretend you have justice?
>>78149438
>a written exam you can challenge, a driving exam you can challenge,
What do you mean 'can challenge'? Like appeal if you fail or something?
>eight months of only being allowed to drive with someone who has a full license
We never had this when I was getting my license, but we do now for people <18 years old. For 18+ nothing changed, but now you can get your license before turning 18 and drive under supervision from an experienced driver untill you're 18. If you just get it at 18 you can drive by yourself immediately.
>That's it, now you have a license forever.
That's basically true here too once you get it, until you turn like 70 and you have to do medical tests every few years. Even if you never drive again after your exam.
