I don't like the Republic flag, colour-wise. Even though it was hard-fought, I feel like the monarchy colours are more pleasing. I think this is shared between most Portuguese people. A country with such a sea-faring history not having blue on the flag seems inappropriate. The anthem starts with "Heroes of the Sea", ffs.
I also prefer the more badass coat-of-arms, since the current one is both too simple to stand out, and too complex to remove. Might as well go full imperial on it.

Except it doesn't, because the colours came from the Carbonaria, which was sort of a sindicate that fought the monarchy and whose flag was adapted to the current one. The meaning of the current colours were made up by Estado Novo as an attempt to buff patriotism.
