Probably not. Any animal under 6 feet maybe, depending on where the animal is and if you can close it's mouth while jumping on top of it. Anything bigger than that can very easily overpower a grown man, especially if it gets a bite of you. I'm a herpotologist and I have caught wild gators and smaller crocs, any animal bigger than 8 feet needs 2 people on top of them unless you wanna get thrown off.

I don't think people realize how strong a gator's bite force is. once it clamps down it isn't letting go, and you definitely won't be able to open its jaws.
your best bet is to poke the eyes, but no guarantees on it opening its jaws if you do.
