I don't know about best state, can't be Florida though I honestly would put it pretty high in the ranking. It just has its endearing quirks, like Publix. Also the water, which includes fresh water springs with kickass rivers that go into the gulf. Drinking at a beach bar is great. Then there's the crazy wildlife, old cities with giant oak trees covered in moss, and of course fresh awesome seafood. We used to go snorkeling for scallops, come home and eat them the same night after rinsing the salt water off the boat.
