Hint: US government gives them to the jihadis. the jihadis also but them from Saudi and friends.
>>
>>77393786
I honestly am not even surprised. No one in our military brass or up high in the CIA thought that giving rebels (who change sides every week) the ability to pop tanks or shoot down civvie airliners was a bad idea?

Jesus H. Christ that is FUCKED especially the MANPADs those things make western government quake in their boots with how easy they can shoot airliners/choppers down?

Its like that quote from Lord Of War: "You supplied both sides with arms, who did you want to win?" "Who said I wanted anyone to win?"

Out of everything I've seen from Syria right now supplying jihadists with those seems like the most dangerous. I know that chemical weapons have been used too...

Any Syrian groups using MOABs aside from the government? Because I know some of the airstrikes have all the evidence of one

Greetings Pooteenists.

As you can see the Shia Alawite Army commanded by the doofus's incompetant family members is close to collapse.

Not even the shia thugs of Iran can prop it up anymore. Of course it had made some gains of sand against it's ally ISIS to imply that it can still function. No one is convinced. Except you.

In other news the Turks are still advancing on all fronts in Latakia. That is why Pooteey withdrew his rustbucket fleet. The Turkmens are hours away from Latakia airbase.

Soon the Actual Syrian Army will be within artillery range of the Assad Palace. From there it will be like the German film "Downfall".

No shia will be spared by the Moderates.

Assad:
Non-sectarian, doesnt employ sectarian rhetoric
Enjoys pretty high support amongst Syrian population
Has support of the most modern and developed part of the population (Damascus, coast)
Has most of the population, which live decent lives in government controlled areas

'FSA':
Allied with Al-Qaeda
Sectarian, 99% Sunni. All of their opponents are "shia dogs" etc. FSA commanders said ethnic cleansing is fine.
Enjoy low support amongst Syrian population
Has its support in the backwards and more poor Sunni areas.
Have much fewer civilians, who live shitty lives in their areas, partially because these extremists have been dragging on the war

The main problem of the western media is this:
The Damascus Spring is seen as the same thing as the current civil war.
It isnt.

Why would anyone thinks those few modern people from Damascus who truly wanted more democracy and political change in Syria, support some backwards armed radical friends of al Qaeda who originated for example from local extreme Sunni Imams inciting them (Daraa)

In the the beggining of the war, asaadist didn't give 75% of Syrian weapons to Syrian Muslims (FSA) and all land where Syrian sunni Muslims live and than started a conflict.

Every piece of land had to be taken by blood of thousands of martyrs from Alawi shiite assadist government.

But still "Asad is Muslim", " FSA colaition is just bunch of terrorists who want sharia", and Asad wants secular system like he said 100 times.

Ok, i made a little map about what is happening in Latakia recent gains + what SAA would do.

Red: SAA
Green: FSA/Nusra
Blue: Turkey

SAA need to captured 3 towns more to reach the Turkish border, this would be a huge back in FSA/Nusra in the Idlib/Latakia area, and would mean a total retreat of FSA/Nusra in the Latakia province.

>The Damascus Spring is seen as the same thing as the current civil war.
>It isnt.

Shilling at it's finest.

There was no opposition allowed under Asad, when he died the opposition tried to start a movement and get some accomodations from the minority ruling class.

They were again oppressed by the government disenfranchising a large part of the population.

It is naive to think that constantly oppressing the majority of the population is not going to fuel a civil war if given the chance.

they could continue the siege and try for a blockade or just accept the stalemate and focus elsewhere instead of throwing wave after wave after wave against the SAA who obviously are very very well entrenched there, and are also some bad motherfuckers.i can understand that they had it as a major target before the russian intervention and reached very close to capturing all of it+the airbase, but they had to change their strategy after the russians got involved. they probably lost about 1000 troops there in 2016 alone, for no reason.

either way its ridiculous losses for any faction fighting in the syrian war. those are the kind of losses youd expect an army having for aleppo or in the final fight for raqqa or a hypothetical scenario where rebels besiege damascus.
plus they already had all the oilfields and have even now got the SAA surrounded. why not just leave them there. maybe they just got autistic about the little enclave not falling in the middle of their Islamic State
>>

They did the same thing in Kobani, now they lost Northern Syria and losing Northern Aleppo at the moment, also losing ground thanks to Raqqa/Manjib offensives in Hama/Homs/Palmyra and even Suwayda

Where does /sg/ think the next civil war or proxy war in the Middle East going to occur?

- Libya seems to be slowly consolidating into a a single government and ISIS is getting rolled back.

- Moderate beheaders are looking increasingly weaker and rapidly losing support, might go for another diplomatic deal or flee to Turkey altogether

- ISIS is getting ground down on both fronts and has lost the strategic initiative. They have to rely on their enemies turning on each other or a stunning battlefield victory (which they seem less and less able to accomplish).

- YPG is relying on the Assadists and Turkey remaining enemies, but they may be putting aside their differences, in which case the Kurds are fucked.

- Yemen seems to be in that perpetual stalemate/ceasefire quagmire.

Will the MB attempt another revolution or even civil war in Egypt?

Sadr seizes power in Baghdad?

PKK-Turk conflict drastically escalates?

Kurds will declare an autonomous state and the Turks will be like fuck no and go ape shit.

And I think ISIS is going to be alot harder to defeat than we realize. And this isn't the Middle East but I think Boko Haram is going to play a much bigger role in international terrorism, with ISIS support, in the coming years.

From cripplechan: Hillary Clinton Received a Secret Memo Stating Obama Admin Supporting ISIS

Hillary Clinton received a classified intelligence report stating that the Obama administration was actively supporting Al Qaeda in Iraq, the terrorist group that became the Islamic State.

The memo made clear that Al Qaeda in Iraq was speaking through Muhammad Al Adnani, who is now the senior spokesman for the Islamic State, also known as ISIS. Western and Gulf states were supporting the terrorist group to try to overthrow Syrian dictator Bashar al Assad, who was being propped up by the Russians, Iranians, and Chinese.

In August 2012, a “SECRET” classified memo was sent to various top Obama administration officials and agencies, including to the State Department and to Clinton’s office personally.

>“The document is an IAR, an intelligence information report,” said Christopher J. Farrell, who serves on the board of directors of Judicial Watch, which obtained the document. “It is produced by somebody within the Defense intelligence agency (DIA). It is reporting from the field by an intelligence agent” who could be a U.S. government agent, a defense attaché, or a source.

>“It’s a report from the field back to headquarters with some intelligence that somebody is willing to bet their career on,” Farrell said.

Farrell confirmed that the report was sent to Clinton’s office, based on the recipient marking “RUEHC/SECSTATE WASHINGTON DC.”

The report identifies Al Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) as being one of the principal elements of the Syrian opposition, which the West was choosing to “support.”

THE GENERAL SITUATION:

A. INTERNALLY, EVENTS ARE TAKING A CLEAR SECTARIAN DIRECTION.

B. THE SALAFIST, THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD, AND AQI ARE THE MAJOR FORCES DRIVING THE INSURGENCY IN SYRIA.

C. THE WEST, GULF COUNTRIES, AND TURKEY SUPPORT THE OPPOSITION; WHILE RUSSIA, CHINA, AND IRAN SUPPORT THE REGIME.

The intelligence report contains an extensive backgrounder on AQI and its methods and capabilities, noting that AQI was speaking through the spokesman of the Islamic State of Iraq Muhammad Al Adnani.

Al Adnani is now the chief spokesman for the current version of the Islamic State, also known as ISIS.

..not that several have and are shipping them over to ISIS & friends.

Not to mention the misdeeds of the Obama regime regarding non-muslims persecuted and genocided in the region:

>Why Won’t the Obama Administration Label the Massacre of Christians in Iraq, Syria Genocide?

>While some in the administration have made the case that at least Christians have the option to stay and pay a “jizya” tax for being a non-Muslim, such measures are clearly intended to force Christians to convert or leave.

>>
>>77443955

This is only the next step of his master plan.

He is abandoning the rebel, not to support Assad, but support the K*rds against him. He is approaching Russia because he will try to get them to support the K*rds instead of Assad.

Jokes aside, this can be very, very bad.
>>
>>77452460
True, not to mention that all those villages at southern aleppo have zero strategic value, whole region is a flat plateau.

He will have to try hard for that.

Syria is a de facto our airbase and naval port, we roam their country freely.
They buy 99% of amor, jets and small arms from Russia.
We are involved in Syrian oil industry.
It will actualy take some time to write all the profits we are geting from Syria.

And what kurds can offer?
>>
>>77453161
I really don't see this happening, but you're right that would be very bad.
you have to remember that the West has no actual substitute for Assad, though.
First they supported ISIS, then Nusra, then FSA, and now SDF. each time the support a new faction it ends up failing. SDF by themselves are incapable of advancing and holding territory without airstrikes.
Assad held his ground for 4 years even with all of the western powers and saudi throwing everything they had against him. this is before Russia even stepped in.
why would russia ever choose SDF over Assad? it just won't happen.

Truth be told, Arabs need a strong man in power.

When a country is completely divided at its roots, due to the Shia & Sunni division, democracy will fail.

We saw this in Egypt, Libya and Iraq.

In Iraq, the Shia's amassed power, with then Prime Minister Al-malakai dismissing popular Sunni ministers.

Its a generallisation but the Sunni population's felt that the new government was biased and unfair against them, and that they were being marginalized.

This was the ember that ignited the birth of ISIS and ISIS' success can be attributed to the Sunni populations supporting them when ISIS entered Iraqi cities.

This sectarian divide is a major reason why the Iraqi army completely collapsed. Sunni soldiers didnt want to fight fellow Sunnis, so many fled before ISIS begun hostilities.

Everyone wants cooperation but in Arab nations its impossible
