As a blue stater I can tell you it's because we have direct exposure on a regular basis to the long term effects of liberalism. If you are living in a red state it is easy to be insulated against the social and economic repercussions of leftist policies, but when you're in the thick of it you are inclined to reach out to others who feel the same, especially anonymously since there is a heavy social stigma attached to conservatism in a lot of these areas.
