ELCA was always bad but it's gotten worse, the Missouri Synod (the one I grew up in) is degenerate now, my parents have fled to the Wisconsin Synod but I'm not sure how long that will hold out.
My folks used to get this weekly Lutheran newspaper, "Christian News". The main editor Herman Otten would put out some /pol/-tier shit, I remember one issue that had the front page lauding the Battle of the Teutonburg Forest and how it saved Europe. You don't get anything near that with the main denominations...in fact the US State Department is paying "Lutheran Social Services" to import Somalis in to Minnesota. It's kind of strange because I'm an anglo from the southern US but I've been raised on what's basically some sort of Germanic ethno-religion.

No one who hasn't gone to a church in over thirty years and doesn't believe in God will identify as baptist. They will do so with Orthodoxy though, because Orthodoxy is heavily linked to ethnic identity. Greek Orthodox Easter (Pascha) for instance, still involves the hymn "Christ is risen" and will be sung by all attending over and over at a celebration, and they identify heavily with that song and Orthodox culture, but aren't Orthodox.

Easter and Christmas were never secularized in Orthodox ethnicities as with the West, they are still both very Christ centric.
The days of the Week in Russia or Greek are also Christian, Sunday is called "Resurrection" and Saturday is called "Sabbath".
The cultural identity of these and many other peoples are inseparable from Orthodoxy. Not one's cultural identity is inseparable from Baptist.
