I had a wild and crazy idea the other day. Now, I could be way off here, and feel free to call me out on my privilege if I'm out of line, but here's my thinking: why don't all of the black youth in America stage a huge protest against racist perceptions of them...by boycotting crime for a month. Think about it: every black teenager in America suddenly stops stealing bikes, stops robbing convenience stores, stops assaulting police officers, stops abusing prescription cough medicine, stops using and selling Schedule II narcotic substances, stops participating in gang activity, stops burglarizing houses, stops breaking into cars, stops mugging people, and stops shooting other black people over Nike-related disputes. If black teenagers stopped being a menace II society, the news would have no choice but to print positive stories about them, thus proving once and for all that the media is intensely prejudiced against black teenagers, and portrays them in a disproportionately negative light compared to white teenagers just because black teenagers "break the law" and white teenagers "don't". Can we try it guys? Guys?
