Is the SDF the only faction in this mess that advances at night? I mean this is the second time I read about a succesfull SDF offensive that took thier enemies by surprice since it was at night.
Everyone else, even the SAA, seems to work on a 8:00-18:00 schedule where they seem almost to go home to sleep before comming back to the front in the morning.

Looks like qamishli/zaline. Yes, about a 1/3 of the town is under SAA control. Regular SAA is stationed there, ndf forces were relieved to the frequent confrontation between ndf and asayish. Republican guard may be stationed there too.

The issue that the Islamic state is suffering from is the daily bombardment and having to fight multiple fronts... the end game is a lost one for them... at this point, the only thing they can hope for is divine intervention or for the Western coalition and others to stop the bombardments... isis will eventually be relegated to nothing more than a middle eastern Terrorist organization as they can no longer maintain their territory nor fund their militants.
