There are many things that get thrown around today. I think George Stibitz was some years ahead of Zuse with his Complex Number Computer.
The only undisputed fact is that the general-purpose machine has been invented independently in Germany, UK and USA.
The race for the first jet engine between the German and the British engineer is also very fascinating.

One of the great follies. They didn't build them before the war and in the March of 1943 he spoke about the necessity of transforming every fighter plane into fighter bombers. Professor Messerschmitt assured him in November that the Me 262 could be used as a fast bomber which didn't only go against the concept of the plane but also the requirement of that time. Instead of finishing the Me 262 so it could then have been used as mid-range fighter against the overwhelming air presence of the Allied forces they wasted more time on developing something to avenge themselves.

This was churchills policiy, slowly planning new long range heavy bombers in 1934. Germany also having this capabilities was the reason why churchill was shitting his pants actually... and the attacks never came. Germany didn´t have long range bombing capabilities that the UK or US had. Hitler realized too late that this was crucial.
If germany would have focus on long range bombers with jet engines rather early on, then they would have subdued the other countries with ease because there didn´t exist a counter weapon to said engines, they would have been too fast and would have been able to fly at unreached altitudes.
