I have no idea what her high school is like, but at mine there was a flat bonus of .075 for each honors class and .125 for each AP class passed added to your QPA. This basically allowed me to completely stop trying after 10th grade, get straight C's my last two years and still graduate with a 4.3, because passing 8 AP classes adds up to whole GPA point even if you got C's in those classes. I actually agree that's fucking stupid and I think all grade inflation should be eliminated so that a 2.0 is considered average again instead of making it so easy you have to consciously try to suck as hard as possible to get a 2.0. It's ridiculous.
All that said my 4.3 QPA plus my 2300 SAT score still wasn't enough to get me a full ride anywhere. If that chick got a full ride to UT she probably has some badass extracurriculars and community leadership stuff on her resume. I say good for her.

University in the USA deferred my student loans for another person with a name similar to mine.
My loan was defaulted while in Norway and sold to a collection agency.
No more student loans for me...
Worked 2 more years and saved like crazy to pay for school...

I was not valedictorian; But I was in the top percentile of all college applicants in my state. I had a GPA of 4.1.
I came from a lower middle class family, and even though our income was below the median we were still considered too rich for a free ride and my scholarship was only partial, because the Uni decided they'ed rather invest in gender studies and niggers, than technicians and other useful sciences. When I did the math, I could not put my family into debt to pay for the other half of tuition, so I choose not to go.

I did jack shit throughout high school and graduated with a 4.32, without even needing to load up on APs. Literally 10% effort and a few APs and I've got over an A+ GPA, and I wish I was exaggerating. When applying to colleges, I got into almost all of them, save for USC. Now, imagine if I'd shown up at USC anyway even though I wasn't permitted to, because they weren't looking I guess, and then I managed to get A's.

Check out her school, its in the lower rankings of texas, ie ghetto and full of nonwhite untermensch. In those types of schools they dumb down everything and inflate grades of anyone who just shows up, doesn't get in trouble, and just puts in "effort". Compared to my high school which is one of the highest ranking in the country, classes were quite rigorous, everyone was white or asian too (and highly competitive). I only got like a 3.0 gpa and was accepted to all the schools in my state (CA) because they judge your school ranking moreso than frankly unreliable gpa.
