Former Brit here (well, technically still a Brit, but no intention of going back any time soon).

Why are people actually worried/concerned about leaving the E.U.?

I lived in Bristol prior to the E.U.

I went back a few years ago and it's a little nicer, I suppose, but much the same.

I can only assume those that support Stay out of fear and worry (rather than laziness and apathy) are severely underage b& and remarkably ignorant and have no understanding of a world prior to the 1990's. It's very confusing to me.

The EU is a neoliberal behemoth you idiot. The only difference is, you can NEVER get rid of them.

> Brussels is at the centre of EU decision-making and as such attracts thousands of lobbyists promoting the interests of big business. In this section you can find basic information about this corporate lobbying and how it affects you as a citizen. Or you can visit our specific pages on the revolving door phenomenon of politicians who become lobbyists – and vice versa – and on the corporate dominance of expert groups whose advice helps make official policy for the EU.

Still depressed as always. He needs a cuddle.

http://hitchensblog.mailonsunday.co.uk/2016/06/the-leave-campaign-may-well-be-winning-.html

>I suspect the whole thing has gone utterly wrong, an unsurprising result of what was in any case a wholly irresponsible promise made by one of the most unprincipled and inexperienced people ever to hold the post of head of government.

>I suspect that the next step *may* have to be an early general election, in which both the existing large English Parties may face severe realignments or even splits. The alternative, in which the ‘Leave’ campaign splits into diehards and compromisers, and a new ‘negotiation’ is proposed ( and possibly another plebiscite), will of course appeal far more to the political class. That is why it is more likely. Michael Gove and Alexander ‘Boris’ Johnson never let their supposedly urgent desire for British independence show before a few weeks ago. Nor did Lord (Michael) Howard. Maybe they will be able to suppress it again in future, if conditions require.

Her and what army? Part of the reason they're all threatening us is because they want our military when they inevitably create an "EU army" accountable only to the all-powerful commission.
>>
>>76276757
They want our military because, let's face it, it's the only capable one within the EU. The French aren't good for much more than 'peacekeeping' in their shit-tier former colonial legacies, and Germany is the very definition of 'All The Gear And No Idea'.

>>
>>76276475
That's not quite how international law works.

The UK has a dualistic system when it comes to the application of international law. First, a treaty is signed between the UK and one or more parties. The UK is then bound to that treaty and can be held accountable for breaches thereof.

However, the treaty is not given the status of national law until an Act of Parliament is passed to give effect to it. While the Parliament in all its sovereign glory may change or repeal the national act, the UK will still be able to be held accountable vis-a-vis its co-signatories on a multinational level.

Hope that makes sense.

A good friend of mine works for the BBC. I went down to Londonistan to stay with him and his girlfriend for a long weekend several years ago, and pissed myself laughing at his ID card with the points of the BBC Charter on the back.

Cue a lengthy, emotionally-charged debate (at his end) about how the BBC is entirely impartial. I flagged up the fact that we now have several former presenters from BBC News on the record as saying their stories were briefed out of the pages of The Guardian, but to no avail...

Cultists, the lot of them. The BBC and the NHS.
Cults.

Yes, and do you realize what purpose they serve?

The House of Lords is meant to be a party neutral oversight committee that reviews and amends legislation. If you made them elected, they'd just be a second house of commons with all the flaws that come with that (party loyalty, career politics etc.) and tools of the government. They'd be utterly pointless.

If we had an elected head of state, the government would fucking totally dominate parliament more than it already does, and things would become LESS democratic with more centralized powers. How is that in anyway better?

Only retards support and elected head of state and elected House of Lords for Britain.

I'm currently on the fence myself. I'm not entirely sure where to vote yet.

I'm strongly considering voting to leave, but I have one major concern.

Under our constitutional law, we don't actually have a right to privacy ensured. We only have a right to privacy through the EU Human Rights Act, which we will lose if we leave. Now, I'm all for drawing up our own human rights act and codifieng our constitution, but the Leave campaign has shown absolutely no willingness to do so, or to suggest an alternative. They've just been going on about "muh immigration".

For the terminally-retarded:
The Queen is not elected and does not create legislation
The House of Lords is not elected and does not create legislation
The EU Commission is not elected and DOES create legislation

The House of Commons is elected and does create legislation
The EU Parliament is elected and does NOT create legislation
The House of Commons is elected and can revise or block legislation
The EU Parliament is elected and can NOT revise or block legislation
