My mother is Irish, and growing up the area we lived in had a very Irish populous.That was fine - I was too young to really notice / care about community or any shit, but I distinctly remember not being scared or intimidated by the place.

My mother used to work in a school in central Birmingham so you can imagine what is used to be like. The teachers had to learn the basics of multiple languages in order to communicate with students because literally none of them were required to learn English. She also had a Sikh friend who worked along side her, the muslims kids wouldn't stop asking her what he religion was, eventually she told them and I shit you not from that day forth they used to hiss and spit at her whenever she came into a room and would never pay attention to her in class and try to be as disruptive as possible.

The closest we've come since 7/7 to a national Muslim scandal that should have woken the country up was either Rotherham or the Birmingham Trojan horse school scandal. I don't have much to add to the whole Rotherham thing, but as for the Trojan horse schools, a friend of mine was a police officer who took part in the investigations that went on in those schools, the thing is that a lot of what happened in them was NEVER reported on by the media because they didn't want to paint Muslims in a bad light, for example, I can't recall any media outlet relaying information about how the school teachers literally had child pornography in the class room, most of which was of the children who went to the school. Kind of makes me think if we'll ever actually realise what's going on, or if the media will just keep us blind until it's too late.
