Tradition
This is a struggle between Structure and Development, as Leszek Kołakowski would say. But there being a struggle does not mean that they are opposites, but they must complement each other. Too much Structure and there is no freedom, no change, and society is destroyed after failing to adapt; to much Development and we grow loose and without identity. This is what has happened now with our advancements in communications, people are closer but at the same time farther away from each other than ever.
