You may elect your national leader, but the commission does not work for the nation states, it works for the EU. They have the powers of an executive and a legislature. They are not democratically accountable to the populace.

The EU referendum was on the table during the Scottish referendum. It was made abundantly clear to the Scottish that remaining in the UK would result in following the UK out in the event of a Brexit.
>>
>>75897462

They are appointed, not elected.

> The European Commission is the EU's executive body. It represents the interests of the European Union as a whole (not the interests of individual countries).

http://ec.europa.eu/about/index_en.htm

Either you want to be governed by people you elect, or you do not. That's the only question you need to ask yourself. Do you want the people in power to be accountable to the people they govern? If you're truly comfortable with surrendering democratic power to bureaucrats, you better be sure you'll agree with everything they impose on you for the foreseeable future, because you have no way to remove them from power.

The EU will not fall. The European Union is one of history's success stories and soon they will form a greater union than before.

The UK will weep at what they could have been apart of. A true European nation, one that has always been dreamed of. But instead they'll be too selfish to allow themselves to access it.

>>
>>75898104
Stay.

Economically its a non-issue. Its not even up for debate at this point.

Immigration? Its positive and I hope it remains as it is.

The EU also acts as a check to the worst excesses of national government who abuse their wafer thin mandates. The EU protects my rights, as an individual and also as a worker.

And the EU is a positive organization, one of progress and the only one willing to stand up to corporate interests, which our government sucks up to.

For me its a no brainer to remain, I really don't get any of the arguments for leaving and I shudder to think what a leave decision could end up with, and how it would affect the younger generations.
>>
>>75898159
1. The cabinet does not have the powers of both an executive and a legislature. The cabinet "executes" the policy voted into law by Parliament. The Commission is both the executive and the legislature, they decide the laws and they execute it. There is no effective separation of powers, no checks and balances.

2. The cabinet is usually chosen from elected MPs. But even if it isn't, the government is directly accountable to the people. If you don't like the Tory government, you can vote them out in 4 years. You never get a say on the Commission.
>>
>>75898485

>>75898718

>>
>>75897906
Well he's a moron (quelle surprise). The closest analogue to the cabinet within the EU is the Council of Ministers, for one. And for two, the key problem with the EU Parliament, the only elected body of the EU system, is that it cannot propose, amend, or revoke legislation. Any MP can table a bill or propose an amendment, or propose the revocation of seam, and it will be put to the vote. No MEP has this ability.

That's the only power the EU parliament has. In practice it doesn't really work because the commission just make minor alterations and repeatedly push the same directives through.

Ask your friend this.

If the United Sates offered Britain a chance to become the 51st state, but you got no vote on the presidency, and a congressman who couldn't propose or repeal legislation - only a vote on whether to accept new legislation - would he vote to join it? You'd be joining the most powerful economy in the world.

Their parliament decided to hand some of that power to the unelected bureaucrats in the EU, and sign more of it away with every treaty until the EU is a superstate. The referendum is the people's opportunity to tell the government that they don't want that power signed away.

Once the immigrants integrate (not all, but most will) the EU will have an even bigger workforce. The war in Syria has misplaced thousands. In those said thousands there's bound to be educated doctors, mechanics, specialists etc.

This is real long term thinking. Don't let short term fear win over you.
>>
>>75901633
They can't, the treaties say EU law is supreme. It's a rule of law issue. The treaties are law, and the treaties give European law supremacy over national law. Member states must make EU directives into law. That law is then enforced by the police and the courts of member states. This is the price of EU membership.

Britain can only do what you describe from outside the EU, by having a trade agreement.

It doesn't. The European Convention on Human Rights and the court which enforces it is *separate from the European Union*.

Every EU Law on rights or work regulations is either already implemented via British legislation or is surpassed by British legislation i.e. greater protections/more rights.
Those laws are not going to magically disappear from the statute role when we leave.

I was explaining to you that it's stupidity and impossible to just be in the EU while ignoring their dominion over your national law. That's the whole point of the EU. Either you want it or you don't.

If they leave the EU, they may be upset, but who cares? Britain will continue to trade with them, they just won't be a state in the EUSSR.

He could have only capitulated to their demands. EU didn't hold a gun to cameron's head and force him to accept.

>EU while ignoring their dominion over your national law

They don't have any domination of your law, eastern states have told them to fuck off repeatedly.

Based. But is clapping just a sign of courtesy or do the people clapping actually agree with this tool?

If you want to resit EU law, why be in the EU? It's agreeing to terms you have no intention to honour. To what end?

Poland is facing sanctions. If they continue to resit, they'll be kicked from the Union.

This is why it's recommended to take the redpill in doses.

Except Poland has faced Zero sanctions. Only bureaucrats writing angry letters and perhaps maybe later at some time there could be sanctions!

ooo scary!

Does Poland have anything worth sacntioning though?

I'm having trouble understanding your position. It just seems insane.

Be in the EU, with no intention of honoring the agreement?

Why?

First they remove the nation state's powers to influence EU law. That's the first thing that will happen to Poland. Then you're in the EU with no influence at all. Then fines, then expulsion if it actually goes that far.

I don't see the point in it?

Your argument isn't even that the EU is good, it's to be in the EU only to rest what the EU does. Why be in the EU at all?

They do very much have supremacy over national law.

1)Cases in the European Court of Justice set binding precedents over national courts
2) EU Law is enforced by national courts, ad the courts will literally take statutes out of the rulebook if they conflict with EU Law (look up the factortame case if you don't believe me.)
3) If the government fails to enact legislation which gives effect to EU Law before the deadline, individual citizens can sue their national governments in the EU court under the doctrine of state liability.

I remember when she used to shill for 'conservative feminism' and like DC, but she's completely changed.

But the articles was shit, regardless of the paragraph. Probably, that's because she hadn't fully engulfed the redpill and understood what /pol/ really was.

EU has hundred of traded deals that has nothing to do with politics but just financial benefits.

The point is to be in a beneficial trade union. But don't pretend like any sort of political changes are caused by the boogman trade union. It is the domestic politics that are causing this. You need to kick them out no leave the trade union.

You can be in the common market without the EU. You can have the trade without the political union, that's what Norway and Switzerland does.
