There's not that many as you think. When the media covers a public demonstration of Marxists (very rarely) it's going to cover the sensational aspects thereof. The paradox is that the true communists will publicly denounce the media that covers their demonstration. They have to do this to save face and prove to themselves that they are an oppressed minority group that's too good for the corporate and non-allied media that wants to use their image or message for whatever. I used to be one of these people. It's a combination of naivete and true believer tendencies. Communism provides a neat, ordered meta-narrative to define the shape of global events, with a Manichean view of which group is good and evil, oppressor and oppressed, that makes absolute moral judgements and gives one the sense of being part of a brave, centralized, heroic organization.
It's all bullshit,of course, leading only to tyranny and ruin, but every failing of Marxism, every horrible leader, inefficient factory, increased workload, every economic collapse,it's all explained by the interference of those darn pesky capitalists! Which of course means that Marxism is impossible to falsify, and therefore an utterly worthless idea. It is a pitcher plant for the mind, you fall in and it dissolves you. I'm lucky to have escaped it.
