That's the worse fucking part. Trudeau is a massive cockstain who literally can't do anything right when he tries to PM, and he only does that when he's dead out of photo ops or chances to lick feminist boots. Yet all everyone does is inhale his dick all day while the country burns around him like a modern day Nero Germanicus. The only saving grace is that all he does is look for chances to pander, if he was doing his job the whole time we'd really be in the shit.

Okay, I'm genuinely curious, why is everything so damn expensive in Canada?

I remember growing up and getting comic books and it'd say like

$3.00 American
$6.00 Canadian

now it doesnt seem like its even close, I mean, a bottle of soda like that is 1.25 AT MOST. Some places you can get a bottle of sprite for 1 dollar

Live stupid places, pay stupid prices.
>>
This fucking meme has to end. All of those prices are from Nunavut, a god forsaken hellscape of tundra with towns only accesible by airplane. The only reasons people still live there are to 'preserve' Inuit culture and to fund tourism. Its capital city has a population of 2000 people. Those prices are a reflection of supply and demand. The only price that is truly super inflated for all of Canada is fuel, where diesel is still almost $4.00/gallon. Those bastards in Iqualuit might be paying closer to 8.
>>
>>75574617
Dollar is generally stronger than the CAD$, and there is lower population density in Canada, meaning a higher transport cost to achieve product saturation. In order to turn a profit with both factors into consideration, prices must be higher.
>>
>>75574617
Your comic book example is because the canadian dollar used to be even shittier than it is now

As to why these sodas cost a bunch, they have to be trucked across the fuckin tundra

Umm, I'm pretty sure this kind of thing is normal if you live in a place like Nunavut. The cost of bringing consumer goods to the middle of popsiclefuck nowhere drives retail price up and supply down.

I've been looking at ways to ship food to remote arctic locations more economically but can't. Even a cheap 30 year old bush plane would still not allow me to make much of a profit compared to what they already pay. Distant and difficult to reach locations without much local infrastructure, meaning buying fuel locally is prohibitively expensive and small bush planes don't have the range to do a round trip.

I'd love to be a bush plane pilot but it's just not financially rewarding.

Freeze / thaw would ruin the rail bed.

Bushplanes and helicopters, sometimes chartered boats if weather is permitting.

Surprisingly enough, it's expensive to ship a bottle of milk 3000km by small plane, then have someone take the bottle onto a helicopter to a remote village to be sold at the local store.

It's not Space-X prices (5000$/kg), it's Nanavut-Air prices (200$/kg).

If you're able to figure out a cheaper way to do it, go ahead.

Everyone who thinks this has anything to do with Trudeau is fucking retarded.
Hey, I hate le weed man just as much as the next guy but these prices are due to the fact they are being sold in Nunavut, a territory with no roads going into it so everything arrives on either boat or plane making everything super expensive.
These prices have been like that ever since stores existed up there.

canadians are the most stupid and guilt ridden consumers on the planet. all companies that sell services and products here know this. things are overpriced here because they can get a away with it and it's a well known fact we'll pay and rationalize it.

>>75578534
We can't either.
Please save us from the shitty liberal East.

Things are overpriced here to conmpensate for the amount of money the government must invest to counteract the downsides of a product, it's sort of like a carbon tax, but more bureaucratic. ' this water bottle uses a chemical compound that is highly regulated in our country so we must add $$$ to compensate'. I don't know if that makes sense to you but in essence it's a cost-benefit analysis on a much larger scale.

i am talking about pre tax retail prices established by the companies that do business here. it has nothing to do with the government.

Listen nagger pop is used in greatlakes states as well and sounds better than saying ssssssssssssodaah. Soda sounds way more effeminate.
>>
Guys, guys. The pop is expensive because its in fucking Nunavut. Transportation costs to these buttfuck nowhere communities in the north drives the prices up.

Prince George is good similar prices to the interior. Pretty comfy.
>>
>>75581517
yes they are correlated, and I do agree the cost is passed onto the consumer which is why i tried using the carbon tax reference. It's more of a hidden cost, like bottle water being so expensive in the north is due to the fact that the bottle don't biodegrade easily. The government and the business selling this knows it and must therefore pass the cost (or it's equivalent if no option to recycle exists) onto the consumer. does that make a little more sense or are you talking about something else completely?

You're also a small country with a rather homogeneous society. No shit things would go well for you.

we might not be on the same page but i understand what you're talking about and it's something easily demonstrated by the prices of gasoline, tobacco and liquor here where the tax is hidden and built in to the final cost of those products.

but for other retail goods like TV's, cars and clothes the before tax retail price discrepancies between Canada and the US can't be explained in the same way. those prices are established by the retailers themselves. and even when the government steps in to counter a perceived drawback of whatever consumer good, they add a separate clearly marked fee when you buy said item, like electronics disposal fee when you buy a television. it's not built in to the retail price nor why goods are more expensive here.

retailers know they can gouge Canadians because Canadians are very compliant. it only became obvious when our dollar and the US one were at par yet were still charged more for the same item. some companies like Apple and Honda equalized the retail prices on their goods on both sides of the border, others didn't because they knew they could make more money from Canadians. they knew they could invoke a weak and obscure excuse like "it's the prices of doing business in Canada" and people would just buy it. despite Target's rocky roll out in Canada, it was their horribly inflated prices destroyed their foray into Canada.

the Retail Council of Canada also studied this phenomena of why things are more expensive here before tax, when our dollar was at par and they concluded companies do it because, they can.

40 cents no way

Prices in Canada are fine, these are just snapshots of prices from in the Arctic in the middle of fucking nowhere where everything has to be flown in by plane and then transported via smaller planes or trucks.

can't believe people fell for this troll.
