Because they memed it. They kept repeating those words over and over. 9/11 changed everything 9/11 changed everything 9/11 changed everything. And over time people started to believe it and accept that 9/11 really was the cause of the changes that were happening. But it was not, 9/11 was a planned event, just like the patriot act was pre-written and ready to go. It was not the cause, just another step that they felt was necessary to make the changes they wanted.
