You don't know shit about Australian beer if you think Toohey's and Carlton are big brands. Foster's isn't even brewed in Australia.
>>
I went to the USA and literally tried every beer in the stores, they all tasted like abhorrent and had miniscule alchohol percentages.

>tfw living in a country where alchohol is cheap as fuck and of high quallity and there are no restrictions on how they're sold or to whom
>tfw living in a country where every other family is making their own wine and every family is making their own rakija (spirits) which have 60/70%+ alchohol in them

Feels good.
>>

So I've heard, it's something I have to look into
But there's something kinda creepy about making your own wine though. Makes you think of the guy stepping on the grapes with his own crusty feet

Lies m8, I lived in Perth for 6 months.

From Jewgle btw:

>Carlton Draught is the most popular Australian beer, drunk by 17% of the country's beer drinkers

Toohey's is the number 4 beer in your country.

Foster's was joke, but it is actually brewed in AUS, though it is brewed in other places too. I actually did see quite a lot of it in Perth.

Hops are included in the ingredient price, no online sales tax in my state anyway, a full set of equipment is $90, a fermentation chamber and temp controller is $50 if you buy a used dorm fridge or freezer from craigslist, energy consumption is $3 per month for the fermentation chamber, Less than that for the stovetop. 10 gallons of tap water is less than a nickel.

It would still pay for itself over time as compared to buying it in stores.
It's also a nice hobby.
>>
>>75231203
>drinking overpriced Miller High Life.

Shameful display, juan.
>>
>>75233451
Pfff thinking your no sales tax situation would apply to everyone. Shipping alone is another $10 which blows your near sighted budget over whatever pennies you think you're saving. But that's okay, suckers like you are what boosted the price on homebrewing anyway. It's your kind of market, enjoy

>didn't mention the cost of his keg
>isn't mentioning that his $90 brew kit is purposely sold shitty so that you keep buying equipment
>isn't mentioning all the other crap he's bought to complete his kit
>doesn't talk about the hours he spent sweating over the stove or the amount of gas or propane used
>doesn't talk about the month you have to wait in order for it to ferment properly
>doesn't talk about the pots you have to buy
>doesn't talk about the cleaning detergents needed to pick up the sticky residue in the kitchen
>doesn't talk about washing a sink full of dirty equipment afterwards or the carboy you have to sterilize and get at with a special sponge

.. Yeah, no thanks

>>
>>75234463

Almost everything you mention is a onetime cost. Plus a lot of shit can be improvised or is already on hand. (Cooking pots, buckets etc.)

I'm not going to claim that homebrewing is cheap, but it can be cheaper in the long run if you know what you are doing.

Also you mention the work like it's a cost. A lot of people actually enjoy the work.

A lot of shit you mention is pretty fucking cheap too. (cleaning detergent and natural gas are pretty fucking cheap).

Finally you don't need a keg. Most people just use old bottles.
>>
>>75230338

You don't live near the north border, right, bitch?
>>
>>75228887
you're a degenerate
>>
>>75234463
>Shipping is free with most kits on AIH, otherwise its $8 on northernbrewer
>Keg cost $50
>Regulator and hoses cost $63
>5LB Co2 bottle costs $15 + a $50 deposit i can get back
>Bottle lasts for roughly 7 batches
>Only thing i bought outside of the kit that i really needed was a hydrometer, which is $10
>Only takes an hour and a half to make the wort on my stovetop
>Fermentation takes 2 weeks, plus an extra week if you want to dry hop it
>Only need a 24 qt pot, cost $27 on amazon with free shipping
>PBW for cleaning equipment, cost $5.99
>Never really have residue in the kitchen, easy to clean up wort drops off the countertop with a towel
>Don't need some "special sponge", Hot water and PBW takes care of it

So, $256 for almost everything, ingredients for a single batch, equipment, cleaning supplies.
If i ever got bored of the hobby, i could sell my equipment and make most of the money spent on that back.

baka desu senpai

>>75235235
You don't need a keg at all. But it saves alot of time and effort. Waiting another 2 weeks for carbonation is too long in my opinion anyway.

Shipping is not a one time cost and it's never free.
If you're buying ingredients and the shipping isn't included you better believe they're adding it to the cost of the extract/grains. It isn't cheap at all.
If you're making that disgusting IPA, that will cost you extra. They treat those hop leaves as if they're sacred ganja to gouge idiots on the price. IPA's aren't for the budget conscious. You may improvise yeah, I can also wipe my ass with news paper or walk everywhere instead of owning a car but who would do that? If you have enough money to brew correctly you might as well skip the bullshit and buy yourself a cold six pack that's ready to drink. You'll be saving time and money anyway, unless you're planning on doing it for years then maybe you'll save about 25 cents a bottle

Is a quarter a bottle worth it? Of course not unless you're an idiot who believe his own fantasy. Say it's a hobby and drop the "you'll save" meme. It just isn't true

corona is one of the most imported beers of the world. living near the border, i don't see many people actually drinking corona, and if they drink mexican beer it's usually modelo, tecate, or, my personal favorite, montejo.

what makes corona so popular is that it's cheap and widely available worldwide. if i were traveling throughout the world and just wanted a beer that reminded me of north america, i could just order corona in just about every country and it's still going to be cheaper than any local or other import brew.
