If you think about it, eating meat in today's society means the meat has to go through very advanced techniques to maximize profit and productivity for a ever expanding world. . . And If you want to get more in depth, if you eat Kosher meats, the animal is killed "humanely". On the other hand you can't break halal/kosher if you only eat vegetables.
>>
>>75152447
Doesn't eating meat support the advancement of the free market and in turn, society? I kind of like the idea of helping to urge humanity along.
>>
>>75152356
Is this actually true though? Surely animal protein is easier to break down or the body or something, because otherwise bodybuilders would eat broccoli all the time instead of chicken breast.
>>
>>75152356
and none of that protein inside vegetables is "complete". Meaning your body can't use that protein to fix your muscles because it doesn't contain all 12 amino acids required to make a complete one. Essentially it is useless to your body.

I'm medically underweight, fat shaming me into veganism isn't going to work. Besides, I'm still waiting for a vegan to provide a good counterargument as to the fact that the human brain volume almost doubled when humans went from foraging fruits/veg to scavenging meat.

What you are, how you evolved, your superior intelligence already came from the sacrifice of animals. Why stop now unless you'd rather go back to microencephalopathy?

Difference is rape didn't shape evolution, eating meat did. Besides civilisation began to end rape, but also made meat more accessible due to animal herding. It's literally a noticeable, extreme change to humanity's cranial structure when they started to eat meat, anthropologists and archeologists literally talk about how unnaturally fast humans changed due to their diet.

Enjoy the microencephalophy.

Daily reminder that Plant Protein and Animal Protein are not the same thing. For example, sodium chloride and copper sulfate are both "Salt". One however is useful to your body and the other is not.

Our bodies are designed to primarily get our carbohydrates and fiber from plant matter, and our proteins and fats from animal matter. Plant protein exists in a form that is completely useless to our bodies and requires a ton of effort to convert into something useful. The energy exchange however is very inefficient, and many of the vitamins that are present in the plants are lost in the process since the body is not getting the necessary fat and protein required to process the vitamins. This is especially true for critical B and K vitamins that are essential for brain development, cardiovascular health and body growth.

>Some studies do not show that vegetarians live significantly longer.25,29 Two studies of people who consumed very little meat showed an average life-span increase of 3.6 years.39 A huge study of Seventh Day Adventists who ate little or no meat showed longevity increases of 7.28 years in men and 4.42 years in women.40 ...

>People from the Ryukyu Islands (of which Okinawa is the largest) have a life expectancy among the highest in the world,[2] although the male life expectancy rank among Japanese prefectures has plummeted in recent years.[3]

>The traditional diet of the islanders contains 30% green and yellow vegetables. Although the traditional Japanese diet usually includes large quantities of rice, the traditional Okinawa diet consists of smaller quantities of rice; instead the staple is the purple-fleshed Okinawan sweet potato. The Okinawan diet has only 30% of the sugar and 15% of the grains of the average Japanese dietary intake.[4]

>The traditional diet also includes a tiny amount of fish (less than half a serving per day) and more in the way of soy and other legumes (6% of total caloric intake). Pork is highly valued, and every part of the pig is eaten, including internal organs.

>The dietary intake of Okinawans compared to other Japanese circa 1950 shows that Okinawans consumed: fewer total calories (1785 vs 2068), less polyunsaturated fat (4.8% of calories vs. 8%), less rice (154g vs 328g), significantly less wheat, barley and other grains (38g vs 153g), less sugars (3g vs 8g), more legumes (71g vs 55g), significantly less fish (15g vs 62g), significantly less meat and poultry (3g vs 11g), less eggs (1g vs 7g), less dairy (<1g vs 8g), much much more sweet potatoes (849g vs 66g), less other potatoes (2g vs 47g), less fruit (<1g vs 44g), and no pickled vegetables (0g vs 42g). [4] In short, the Okinawans circa 1950 ate sweet potatoes for 849 grams of the 1262 grams of food that they consumed, which constituted 69% of their total calories.[4]

> rape didn't drive evolution

The strongest and most superior pre-humans would take the girls, spreading their genetics and driving evolution. It's fucked up (just like eating meat), but it did drive evolution. Society has moved past both of those injustices now.
>>
>>75155233
One could argue survival selection drove women to accept only men intelligent enough to provide for 2 or more people, driving evolution towards a more intelligent breed rather than a more brutish breed.

I digress, that's completely non sequitur to how meat changed human evolution. The fact is if we never ate meat, we'd still be raping. Contemplate that next time you think you can shut someone up by mentioning rape.
>>
>>75155233

This is not even remotely true. Having had kids myself, I can tell you right now the things are completely helpless, and the mother is not much better off in the process.

Certainly, there was "raping" going on, just like there is today. But successful survival of the species required the male to be highly attentive to the female for years in order to insure successful reproduction. This is why humans are such social animals.

Both could be a successful strategy.
Rape carries a certain risk for the man (could be killed by friends/family of woman, could contract STD), but the investment is extremely small (5 minutes of his time and a small quantity of sperm).

>rape 20 women
>6 become pregnant
>5 survive pregancy
>3 children survive to adulthood

or

>have wife
>gets pregnant 4 times
>dies at 4th birth
>1 child starves
>3 children survive to adulthood

>The history of vegetarianism has its roots in the civilizations of ancient India and ancient Greece. Vegetarianism is the theory and practice of voluntary non-consumption of the flesh of any animal (including sea animals), with or without also eschewing other animal derivatives (such as dairy products or eggs).[1] The earliest records of vegetarianism as a concept and practice amongst a significant number of people concern ancient India[2] and the ancient Greek civilizations in southern Italy and Greece.[3] In both instances the diet was closely connected with the idea of nonviolence toward animals (called ahimsa in India), and was promoted by religious groups and philosophers.[4]

>The earliest reliable evidence for vegetarian theory and practice in Greece dates from the 6th century BC. The Orphics, a religious movement spreading in Greece at that time, and Pythagoras, a philosopher and religious leader in the area of Southern Italy colonized by Greek settlers, abstained from the flesh of animals.[12]

>In the ancient Vedic period, eating some kinds of meat was allowed by their laws, although vegetarianism was encouraged.[26] The Manusmriti law book states, "There is no sin in eating meat... but abstention brings great rewards."[27]

>The religions of Chinese Buddhism and Taoism require that monks and nuns eat an egg free, onion free vegetarian diet. Since abbeys were usually self-sufficient, in practice this meant they ate a vegan diet. Many religious orders also avoid hurting plant life by avoiding root vegetables. This is not just seen as an ascetic practice, but Chinese spirituality generally believes that animals have immortal souls, and that a diet of mostly grain is the healthiest for humans.
>>
>>75152356
These are not the same protein.

Vegan diet needs to be monitored closely and the overwhelming majority of vegans need to take vitamin and protein supplements.

We did not evolve as vegans, the vegan lifestyle is purely permitted because of the wealth and freedom of the first western world. Be grateful for that.

Uhm, no, not really. For starters, to get to that magic number of 20, you would have to literally fight tooth and nail the whole time. Odds are good eventually you get a stone spear shoved very far up your rectum.

In most pre-historic, and even historic circumstances, "raping" requires the rapist to have a strong foundation upon which to base his actions. An Army or Horde, or a more successful tribe vs. another tribe. Either circumstance however means that there is a stable social unit in which raping is very much not accepted because of aforementioned stone spear up the rectum.

If this method of procreation had been successful for species survival, rape would be considered more social accepted. However it is not.

You also have to remember that in ancient times, infanticide was also a thing, and the mother also has agency in how SHE passes on her genetic information. A father who attempts to procreate by rape takes way too much faith in motherly instinct trumping the psychological imperative to just leave the kid in the woods for the wolves.

>The World Health Organization has determined that dietary factors account for at least 30 percent of all cancers in Western countries and up to 20 percent in developing countries. When cancer researchers started to search for links between diet and cancer, one of the most noticeable findings was that people who avoided meat were much less likely to develop the disease. Large studies in England and Germany showed that vegetarians were about 40 percent less likely to develop cancer compared to meat eaters.1-3 In the United States, researchers studied Seventh-day Adventists, a religious group that is remarkable because, although nearly all members avoid tobacco and alcohol and follow generally healthful lifestyles, about half of the Adventist population is vegetarian, while the other half consumes modest amounts of meat.

>This fact allowed scientists to separate the effects of eating meat from other factors. Overall, these studies showed significant reductions in cancer risk among those who avoided meat.4 In contrast, Harvard studies showed that daily meat eaters have approximately three times the colon cancer risk, compared to those who rarely eat meat.

>A number of hypotheses have been advanced to explain the connection between meat consumption and cancer risk. First, meat is devoid of fiber and other nutrients that have a protective effect. Meat also contains animal protein, saturated fat, and, in some cases, carcinogenic compounds such as heterocyclic amines (HCA) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) formed during the processing or cooking of meat. HCAs, formed as meat is cooked at high temperatures, and PAHs, formed during the burning of organic substances, are believed to increase cancer risk. In addition, the high fat content of meat and other animal products increases hormone production, thus increasing the risk of hormone-related cancers such as breast and prostate cancer.
