Well I can see either 3 things happening:
1: Trump blows Sanders the fuck out like he did with everyone else he's debated by bringing up their own record and using more personalized attacks. Policy wise he shouldn't have trouble finding a few holes in Sanders socialist policies
2: It becomes a shouting match between the two of them and then Sanders is declared the victory by the MSM and Trump appears at least stumped, but he can say it was all for good fun.
3: The debate could be civil and Trump could use it as an olive branch to millenials and detail a plan to get rid of Citizen's United, dedicated himself more to an anti-interventionalist foreign policy front, and agree on trade. Sanders fans would swarm to Trump on those merits and all Trump would have to say is education/healthcare will be "cheaper" instead of free and he stands his ground while pulling in more Sanders support.
I think option 3 is the most unlikely but what I'd like to see happen, option 2 is possible but I think it depends entirely on the moderators (if its FOX lol GG Bernie, if its CNN/MSNBC or god forbid TYT, then they'll throw so many gotchas at Trump that it would be impossible to come out unscathed), more than likely 1 will happen and it'll be entertaining to say the least.

The problem for him is that he's the only one who has to prove any of that. He'll be serious and waggling his finger. Trump will be more relaxed. Aesthetically it will be an angry old hunchbacked white guy waving his finger, vs a healthy orange jovial chubby man with a winning grin.
Trump can just play nice for most of the debate. It helps that they do agree on some fundamentals. He can praise Bernies character and intentions. He can be a nice guy.
If Sanders gets too uppity Trump can just pull the "Why aren't you like this against Hillary?" Card.
Tump will almost definitely show his much more compassionate side here. Broadcast more loudly how he wants to reform the immigration system to make it easier. Bring up his women's health thoughts. Talk about meritocracy. Talk about how universities ARE ripping students off (while differing vastly on the solution and analysis).
Even if Sanders 'wins' the debate he doesn't really gain anything as long as Trump doesn't take any bait, doesn't swear, and stays calm and relaxed. Hell, Sanders winning helps trump because it causes more Drama with the democrats. Trump just needs to show he has pivoted from the hardline angry candidate, to a more relaxed presidential one.

Okay /pol/ , I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out on this one. In my opinion, this could be a golden opportunity for the media and establishment to be absolutely BTFO.
Here is my basic vision of how it may be orgnanized/structured, basically it is going to be a joint rally which opens a few options:
> It will held in a state where both of them will campaign.
> It has a standard rally format, so both candidates are on the stage together and just state their opinions/policies/talking points on something. This will be done without them interrupting each other.
For example:
Announcer/moderator/Themselves (depending whether or not they choose to have a moderator - which would be the most likely thing) - Lets talk about X
Trump - This my opinion on X etc.
Sanders _ This my opinion on X etc.
Announcer/moderator/Themselves - Moving on to Y.
> If there is a moderator, they may have 1 or 2 replies to eachother's policies/talking points
> The crowd will could be handled in a couple of ways :
a) Everyone is in the same area/section (Trump supporters, Bernie supporters, undecided)
b) There are 2 sections - one for Trump Supporters and one for Bernie
c) There are 3 sections - One for people who wish to come together (section of Bernie and Trump fans) , and two other sections exclusively for one of the parties
In my opinion a) or c) would be most ideal, since it will be the most diplomatic way of "coming together".
Here is how it is roughly going to go down :
>starting segment where they say a few good words about eachother, explain what the event is about. (and also the possible charity I will mention later)
>Second segment which is devoted to media dishonesty - sharing their experience, giving examples etc.
>Third segment is the "sort of debate, sort of rally" I mentioned before.
