Stewart was never "in his prime". His entire show has always revolved around heavily editing interviews to make people he disagreed with look stupid or to joke around so much to the point where the other side seemed trivial. He'd manufacture bullshit and try and make it look like the other side's point was the bullshit he made it up to be.

I watched a few episodes when they did that nonstop marathon of every show Jon Stewart did. You could see the rise and fall of the quality. Despite what /pol/ thinks there was a time where he actually criticized Democrats. By the end though he was literally talking about white privilege and I think even he knew he had to stop.
