Alright, so i'm currently giving a short course of lectures in the US, and one things is really irking me about the conversations I am having with other educators. They all have deep criticisms of the way the system runs, which is fine. It's not really my system, and i'm a guest within it, so I have no real right to criticise it.
But the ONE talking point they always bring up is that classes teach "useless information", and when asked what subjects should be taught, they always say the same thing:
"we don't even teach our kids to do taxes!"
Maybe it's an American thing, but..why would you waste time on teaching children how to properly give their money to the government? If it was slightly different, if the answer they gave was "we should teach children about civics and the structure of the US government more" that'd be great..but they always push that students should be taught to "PAY TAXES".
Can anyone tell me why this might be? Are Americans just eager cucks to the government or what? Evidence seems to lean away from that, but...well, enlighten me.
Its about general money management you fucking retard

>general money management
No, they don't say "how to manage their money". They don't say: "How to handle a household budget." They say, word-for-word: "how to pay taxes".
And for further information, that "useless information" usually appears to be biology, music and literature.

You, lecturing? Exactly why the school system is in tatters.

I agree OP, we should teach those kids useful stuff, like how socialism is the best, gender x sex, and also go deep on the wage gap subject.

Paying taxes goes into money management and any normal person would get the gist of that statement
>>75011819
>paying taxes is a small part of money management
>it should therefore be explained as "paying taxes"
Sure. I guess we should stop saying "literature" and say "Shakespeare class".

Too be fair look at the teacher in the today panel. She has her breast out.

Yeah, and her hair is a fucking mess. She fucking deserves it. I'd shout at her about my child's bad grades, and I don't even have one.

Well, Harvard is a high-quality degree mill, what do you expect?
Also, I love how they asked the fucking STUDENTS if they had a problem with getting straight A's and were surprised that most of them said "Uh...nope?"
