First you have to learn to program. Even if you use a modular program like RPG Maker or Game Maker, you still have to learn how to use the program.
Then comes actually writing the game. Do you have a GDD, a Game Design Document? A document that can be used by someone else to complete your game in the event you fucking die?
Who's going to do your art? What kind of art is it? Is it something you can do in only a few months? Are you going to just use MSPaint to draw sprites, if so, best of luck to you with that shit.
You've spent the first 4-5 months learning how to make a game and actually creating your pre-alpha build. Your sprites are either nonexistent or look like shit, they exist to only show you what size things are going to be. Now the fun part actually starts, you get to begin level building. At least, that's what a smart person would do. I don't genuinely believe he knows what modular level design is, he probably thinks it's magic, so that's going to take him a while to figure out through trial and error.
What about your music? Are you going to make your own music? How? You only have a PC, you don't have a keyboard that can connect to it, and I'm sure you don't know someone with a studio setup for that. You'll probably end up pirating FruityLoops studio and trying to use that. If you use it successfully, that's another month or so just learning how to use that program.
This is all assuming his game uses 2D graphics and not 3D, which is an entire other universe of bullshit that I refuse to get into.
