Hilary keeps saying that Trump wants to lower the wages of the average worker. She says she wants them to be raised.

I understand from the point of view of a businessman lower wages means higher profits, but why would Trump seriously want the average American to make less money?

Companies can just move overseas, no we don't have to worry about lower/higher wages.

Econfag here

The average American would actually make more if the minimum wage was removed entirely. The minimum wage is what's called an artificial cost ceiling; it keeps the labor supply/demand from reaching equilibrium.

Market equilibrium is where the average worker's wage is optimized because of the free market; the minimum wage causes what's called "deadweight loss," which in the labor market, is unemployment. So basically the opportunity cost of minimum wage is unemployment.

Politicians try to make it sound like the minimum wage is as high as it is because they want workers to have a "living wage," but this can easily be disproven by the fact that the CPI (consumer price index) isn't taken into account at all when calculating the minimum wage; there is really no way to decide what a "living wage" is nationally since we have a free market and prices are different everywhere. Instead of giving the power to local/state governments, politicians just make up a random good-sounding number like "LOL $15/hr xDDD" so people who make less than 15/hr will vote for them, thinking they will earn more money.

High minimum wages always seemed like Zeno's paradox. The more money you pay, the less it's worth. Prices rise so you're still in the same situation but you have to carry more money around.

trump tax plan would end up leaving more spending money in low income pockets, lower wages, with lower taxes equals even money, add lower costs of living now because of lower staff costs equals more money for low income earners, plus illegal immigrant workers getting kicked out equals forced employment of tax payers equals more money going into US treasury. low income workers win, US wins, why wouldn't you vote trump.

I am cool with minimum wage. If you end up getting the job flipping burgers you are making more than what you would make without it. There are a few more people unemployed with the minimum wage in theory, but places where they raised the minimum wage like Seattle and other places, there was actually job growth.

Just cause you did micro and macro economics doesn't mean you know jack shit about the world buddy.

That is non sense. If you keep scaring away manufacturing and other jobs from the US while at the same time importing non-citizens the wages will naturally go down. It is basic economics of supply (labor force) and demand (available jobs). It does not take an economics degree to understand this.

It is not just high wages, what is the point of higher wages if you have a rate of inflation that would be in proportion to that of increase in wages, you would still have the same purchasing power.

You want 50% wage increase well we are going to increase everything else by 50% including cost of living while at the same time introducing technology to phase you out of the job, in the end you are worse off.
>>
Also lowering corporate taxes from 35% to 20%.

20% of something >> 35% of nothing

It is definitely an economic war that the US is in.
