Well, it's historically significant as far as US history is concerned because they were the first black infantry unit to fight in the US armed forces; they were also the first American regiment to arrive in Europe and the last to leave.
It's obvious pandering to the USA market since we really didn't have that much of an impact on WWI outside of its significance toward our nogs eventually obtaining their civil rights.
