Who votes Brexit:
- Edgelords from /pol/
- Neets (muh migrants took my job, what? no I don't want to apply at that company)
- Anarchists

Who votes against Brexit:
- Normal people
- Patriots
- Tax payers
- Educated people

- Europeans
- Economic analysts and scientists

Well, it's pretty obvious. You can either prove what a special snowflake you are and vote out, or be someone who cares about the FUTURE of his country and vote STAY.

I don't think we will leave. I think it will be a solid 55-60% remain.

To many Brits will buy into project fear of "omg did you know our house prices will slump?!?" as if they won't slump next recession that eventually comes around.

Or the good one in the daily mail today "cancer patients will suffer".

But I am willing to accept the vote, if the rest of the UK wants to consign themselves to being eviscerated then so be it. I will do my best to try and get out when the going is good.

This. They should stay in. Most economic experts say that the Brexit would be terrible for Great Britain. Also, one of the major reasons Scotland didn't secede was because GB is part of the EU. If they now decide to leave, GB would loose quite a large amount of their oil-resources.

For a long time Britain has not been towing the line in international politics and now other countries see this as an opportunity to knock the UK of its pedestal.

What is a stronger UK? One that has an army to protect Gibraltar and the Falklands or one whereby the army is absorbed into a European army and Spain veto's the UK stepping in to protect any of its interests?

I just jumped in this thread so don't you go start throwing insults at me, I asked you a question. So you keep your shit contained.

>Well that's not working, because the majority who thinks about the future for their children votes STAY.

Yeah I care about my children which is why I'm voting to leave.

>Compared to you I actually care about the UK.

But you don't, you have the mindset of most mainlanders, you think you know what's best for us. You don't know and we don't know, if we do vote to leave and we fall apart, we fall apart, if we succeed, we succeed.

You cannot predict the future at all, all the shit you're spouting, the doom and gloom... It was all said when we were ordered to adopt the Euro as our currency.

We didn't adopt the Euro as our currency and we still haven't fallen apart.

If you really have the interests of the UK at heart, you'll keep out of our business and let us fail or succeed on our own. We do not need your input at all, so ensconce that in your brain and fuck off.

But you don't care about the UK at all, you shit up every thread and insult the people that have made a democratic decision to leave, you discard them, you insult them, you shitpost and you troll.

Which just goes to show that you have no interest in the UK, the EU in its current form is bad, bad for everyone.

But the Swiss rely on it, hence why you don't want it to crumble apart, that's your vested interest.

Not the UK or our people's decision, you should respect both side's decision, but you don't.

You just prove again why EU is the best option for Europe. Normal people are just too stupid for political issues, they don't understand it.

You don't have the slightest knowledge about economics.

This is why the authoriterian leadership of the EU is so great. They don't have to listen to stupid citizen who visited primary school and now think they know everything better.

Good thing the majority will crush this referendum and vote Stay. After that you won't get a referendum ever again

That statement isn't binding, it's just words. Only the treaties are binding, and the next treaty will expand EU power over even more sectors of national sovereignty.

Do you think the EU is going to federalize and leave the UK as a tag along enjoying perks and privileges without committing? Do you honestly envision that happening? Either they leave now and do their own thing, or they commit to washing away their national identity for a new European identity.

Only the unelected EU commission can propose EU legislation, the parliament is a rubber-stamp body with no power, there's no way to control immigration whilst in the EU.
The EU trade deal with Canada has taken 8 years because Italian cheese farmers are complaining or something, the UK could easily do a deal much quickly that was specifically tailored to our economy.

for simplicity sake, i'll use the wikipedia's definition:
'jurisprudence as the full right and power of a governing body to govern itself without any interference from outside sources or bodies. In political theory, sovereignty is a substantive term designating supreme authority over some polity'

EU law is supreme above our own as per the European Commission Communities Act of 1972, this is an affront to sovereignty. We are still a sovereign nation, but the EU takes away some of that sovereignty

>>
>>74773825

The commission merely proposes legislation as you said, doesn't pass it. Every country has one commissioner only. Parliament and Council, both of which we're fairly represented in, jointly pass the vast majority of laws. It is absolutely not a rubber stamp body, they actually have detailed negotiations with council and often amend a lot.

We have full control over non-EU immigration, and yes, limited control over the free movement of those from the EU since it's a foundation pillar of the EU. But it they represent a threat, we still don't have to let them in, and don't forget that you as a European citizen can do exactly the same to the other 27 countries.

Greenland, a 2 million square kilometre freezer with a population not much bigger Faeroe Islands took 2 years of negotiation after it left the EEC, how could we possibly do it quicker with the EU.

I don't know the ins and outs of the Greenland thing, but 2 years is the timescale given for leaving negotiations in the EU treaties, so taking 2 years for them makes sense.
The UK would obviously have a bigger civil service matching our size, so there's no reason a deal on leaving will take 10 years or whatever Cameron is claiming.

>> Sovereignty
>Are you implying we aren't sovereign at the moment? That's a ridiculous claim. Stop fearmongering.
Not quite. National laws and decisions are subject to review by the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights, which severely restrict national policies. An example. Many states in the EU give Catholics, Protestants and Othodox a priviledged status in funding and education because of their history. The two European courts have destroyed most of this privilege. For instance Spain and Romania had to give up on compulsory religious studies. England had to make its non-confessional moral education classes optional. The UK may keep funding Anglican schools on the condition that Catholic, Mulsim, Hindu schools be offered similar access to public funds; which defeats the very idea of having an established church.
You may welcome these changes. But they should have been decided the parliament after public debates not by European judges, who are not British, know little about Britain and most likely do not care at all about it and its future. Lastly these decisions cannot be altered or revised and constrain the UK for the foreseeable future.
A practical example of lack of sovereignty.

Literal fearmongering. The NHS is not near collapse, and other than the southeast/London the housing situation is probably fine. I have not read up on the housing market etc. but I'm not voting to leave the EU just because houses in central London are bought by Chinese billionaires or whatever. The European Court of Human Rights is part of the package. In theory it is completely separate. In practice the European Court of Justice has started quoting decisions by the ECHR and use them as jurisprudence. How they managed to establish the link is a mystery to me.

The UK should get rid of the ECHR even if it stays in Europe. That would bring some sovereignty back. The Conservatives lack the necessary majority by a handful of votes though. Unfortunately.

>No, we all knew who the PM candidate of the respective party is. Drop the act already. And if you are not content with the final choice then tough luck, that's democracy for you

I'm sorry but you seem to be a bit confused. We vote for a MEMBER of PARLIAMENT to REPRESENT US.

We do not directly vote for our Prime Minister. A role which is purely from convention, there is no official law or part of our uncodified constitution which actually gives the role of PM any power

There is no act to drop, this is fact.

I'd much rather a system in which you could directly vote for the head of the executive. But a start is not being in the EU, in which we have a single EU commissioner of which we did not directly vote for either.

The Commission differs from the other institutions in that it alone has legislative initiative in the EU. Only the Commission can make formal proposals for legislation: they cannot originate in the legislative branches. Under the Treaty of Lisbon, no legislative act is allowed in the field of the Common Foreign and Security Policy. In the other fields the Council and Parliament are able to request legislation; in most cases the Commission initiates the basis of these proposals. This monopoly is designed to ensure coordinated and coherent drafting of EU law.

proof commission has supreme legislative power in the eu

The Commission is composed of a college of "Commissioners" of 28 members, including the President and vice-presidents. Even though each member is appointed by a national government, one per state, they do not represent their state in the Commission.

proof the commission is not democratically elected as they do not represent the state from which they originate ie. the government/people who elected/chose them

democracy-government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.

from this we know conclusively that the eu is undemocratic as SUPREME legislative power lies with an unelected body, directly contradictory to the definition of democracy

>I called you a mong because you knew what the commissions role was but made it sound like it had the power of Parliment or the Council and that we weren't represented in it.
The commission is unelected by actual voters. And they even swear to not care for our interests in their oaths
>There is one member per member state, but members are bound by their oath of office to represent the general interest of the EU as a whole rather than their home state.
And yes they are the only body in the EU with the legal power to propose legislation. The parliament can grovel to them and ask for things, but the commission has the legal power to ignore it.

>other than the southeast/London the housing situation is probably fine.
Yes, this is why the average first time homebuyer is now 35 years old. No one can afford housing any more, we're all stuck on rentals for life, making landlords richer and never being able to save up well enough to buy.
>And if this was such a big issue, why isn't it brought up more?
It is, have you never watched question time? Housing comes up every other week.

>Your opinion, seems not everyone on this island agrees with you
Obviously, but it seems somewhere between 45 and 53% of people do agree. I'm just stating my reasoning for voting leave.

That's sort of the point of voting for a prime minister, he represents the British people
>>
>>74777576
>Why do you assume that you should have a chance?
If someone is making legislation on our behalf the voter should have the right to vote them out.
>Do you also insist on having your say regarding Mr Cameron's breakfast? Where does your selfishness end?
Straw man argument. Cameron's breakfast doesn't effect the law of this country.

>> National laws and decisions are subject to review by the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights, which severely restrict national policies.
> Something we willingly agreed to abide by when we joined in '73. No one is forcing anybody.

True. It was agreed in 1973. But the role of the courts has expanded enormously. Originally it was something like an arbitration court between the competing interests of the member states. By now it is a fully fledged Supreme Court. Its powers were partly expanded by the new treaties and partly by its own decisions.

I was confortable with the ECJ as a quasi-arbitration court. I am not with its current role. And I am adamantly against its ability to extend its powers by itself or stealth collaboratin with the ECHR.

I am against the ECHR. I believe British law and British courts uphold our rights well enough. No need for outside interference.

>So your personal issues have nothing to do with the EU? You just dislike our political system and you take your anger and frustration on the EU.
What the fuck even is your argument?

I like democracy. I like the direct election of our executive. You CANNOT directly vote for our executive representation in the EU Commission. My stance has been entirely consistent. Why would I complain about our election process for our executive in this country then somehow be completely fine with the executive selection process in the EU? Of course my dislike for our system in the UK would extend to the EU.

Unfortunately, reforming the EU commission is nigh impossible whereas voting reform in regards to a separation of powers between the legislative and executive in the UK certainly is. It would make sense that someone from my view position would hate the EU.

The boss makes the rules / laws in the corporation. Similiar as how the government makes the laws in a country.

Do you also think the boss should be elected by his workers?
>inb4 this is completely different!!

>Are you telling me you want to vote on every law passed
No because the people judge a government's whole legislative work at election time.

The person the UK sends to unicef or whatever isn't making binding laws affecting this country.

Wanting to have a separate executive and legislature in which you can vote for either is hardly a radical idea, nor does it have anything to do with a direct democracy system under referendums

Oh, I see. So you simply do not know what the role of the European Commission is, or that its members ``pledge to respect the EU Treaties and to be completely independent in carrying out their duties''. They are not there to represent your personal interests. They are skilled professionals who give their valuable opinions on various topics.
>Straw man argument. Cameron's breakfast doesn't effect the law of this country.
Nor does the choice of an European Commissioner.

That Britain will lose more than what it will gain if leaves the EU.
