The War in Heaven is a cool myth, the personification of Satan helps convey the dangers of sin, but I don't think Satan is a literal being, or was ever an angel. Because that's almost certainly what they are. Religions throughout history claim to have experienced miracles. Some of them even have better historical documentation and verifiable witnesses than accepted Christian miracles. And yet, the modern world views said miracles as impossible and asserts that there must be a logical explanation because there's no way magic that doesn't have to do with Yahweh or Allah is obviously fake.

There's actually a spectrum of "slavery" so to speak (which Latin did a horrible job at differentiating and translating). There's the race-based chattel slavery we all know about, but there was also indentured servitude where people could start fresh in the New World with free travel but had to work under their sponsor to pay it off. Similarly in the Old Testament, the "slavery" (or servitude) allowed people to enter into agreements where a man could offer his labor for X time to repay his debts (and had certain protections and whatnot such as the jubilee celebrations). Even the 13th Amendment outlawed slavery but had a caveat for convicted prisoners. Certain situations such as prisoners of war it may be permitted that they conduct labor, but in general it's a fine line that got crossed so hard boundaries have been and continue to be established.

So I was driving along highway 17 over to Scooterville down to Leroy's Butcher Shop so i could get some turkey gizzards cuz everyone knows Leroy's has the best turkey gizzards.
