Eh, desu I can't play Civ games anymore. The delays between turns has gotten too high. I had a fast computer and Civ5 too 1 to 3 minutes in the late game. I'm not sure I ever finished one game because of it. They should cap it at 10 seconds and if the AI hasn't found good moves by then, then that's it, their AI sucks (and they should fix it).

I like the concept of building wonders on tiles, it makes you actually defend them and forces you to prioritize having lots of wonders vs. city growth and production. Should make wonder whoring (a noob trap) a less viable strategy.
It seems like every Civ game introduces some good ideas but then takes two expansions to get back to the level of the previous one. Civ5 had some really good ideas, including the hex tiles, 1UPT, and unique civ traits, but it was boring as fuck after the early game until Brave New World came along.

You can usually get lucky and build an early game wonder, as long as it's not the Great Library. The Pyramids in particular are pretty easy to get as the AI doesn't seem to go Liberty (which I think is a mistake, I always get the Tradition opener and then go straight into Liberty).
You can usually get a second wonder by finishing the Liberty tree and usually the free great person to get an engineer and hurry a wonder. I usually do this to get the Petra.

Honor + Aztec can snowball fast. Otherwise I wouldn't do it. You need infrastructure, science, population and then to go into production mid game. Liberty + Petra needs dedicated policy strat. Honor for tall empires needs dedicated push for the bonuses. Honestly apart from Germans for early rush or Aztec, Honor can happen only after one of the primary trees are done.

I usually do Tradition opener, then all of Liberty, then go back and finish Tradition. Then I'll put a couple of policies into Rationality (and Exploration if I have a lot of coastal cities) before I chose an Ideology.
Liberty if fucking boss early game. Filling it out gives you a free worker, a free settler, a free golden age, and a free great person. That will do a shitload to help you snowball. Liberty gives you lots of flat bonuses which are really powerful early game, but don't scale into late game.
Most of the Tradition bonuses are more useful in later game, which is why I do it later. You can use the free culture building policy to get you Opera Houses if you already have ampitheatres in your cities when you unlock it. The free aqueducts are only good if you have engineering, and the ability to spend faith on great persons only works in Industrial age or later. All the Tradition policies scale into late game.
People don't seem to realize you can do both Liberty AND Tradition. Try it some time.
