Has your grandfather spoken about how he feels about the state of Austria or Europe today? It breaks my heart when I think about the veterans of the war who made such massive sacrifices during difficult times, and how they must feel when they see their countries welcoming these Middle-eastern deserters and terrorists. My own grandparents died away long ago, and I'm kinda grateful they never had to see this. But on the other hand, I also wonder if European politicians had a little more sense in their heads if most of the veterans were still alive. At least around here, most people still tend to respect what they did and listen to what they have to say.

He doesn't speak much about the current state but and he doesn't talk about the past very often. It's an untouched topic within our family. I often went hiking with him and he saw me read books like "Tigers in the Mud" and he commented just a little bit about what he did back then, no war stories though. Reading the comments on that TV disaster, reading this thread, and listening to opinions of FPÖ voters leave me not a single doubt. Trying to have a discussion is pointless. The Hofer campaign isn't based on facts, it's purely emotional. Apparently, today no one in the right wing camp cares how bad Hofer is at lying. No one is embarrassed.
