The "Flat Earth" is more like a globe that has been flattened from the top rather than a traditional flat map. Imagine a globe that had been peeled up from the bottom until it could lay down flat on a desk.
It still doesn't make any sense, but there you go.
>>74543040
I believe they usually claim that there is some sort of non-euclidean geometry, which is why when you believe you are traveling on a straight geodesic path with respect to the sphere, you are actually traveling on these curved paths which make it near impossible to reach the south pole which is where they claim the earth ends.
Like many conspiracy theories, they use math that is far beyond the average joe (or the average follower of the conspiracy theory), in this case differential geometry, to explain what would be considered obvious flaws and shortcomings of their conspiracy theory. This means that when someone attempts to disprove their theory they can always claim that person doesn't understand the underlying math. A similar but somewhat more serious example of this is the physics paper 'An exceptionally simple theory of everything' which has generated something of a cult following.
>>74543612
The belief in the globe suppresses the creator, the globe makes man irrelevant, a tiny speck of dust in an infinite universe.
The truth of humanity living on a purpose built construction with everything provided destroys that myth and weakens anyone's position should they be trying to enslave said population.
Not that a small percentage of people belonging to a certain religious and racial sect basically control "global finance".

>>74544518
>>74544295
Flat earthers don't believe this though, they think everything is on the "top" side.
I'll give a serious answer.
The equator line forms a circle around the middle of the earth, if you travelled east constantly in a flat earth you would go around this circle as a compass uses poles to dictate position.
The day/night cycle is explained by a supposed spotlight sun that rotates around the earth. The moon and sun are said to be the same size.
What I did find interesting about this theory is that the Bible implies the moon and stars exist within a firmament of waters. It is scientifically possible to create a glowing star in water by using soundwaves. They claim that is the explanation behind the sun being created when God spoke "let there be light"
It is truly saddening to see all of these brainwashed round earth shills in this thread, they never seem to grasp the truth of the flat earth, even when they are continuously getting BTFO in every single argument.

Yes, they have supersonic planes for the southern hemisphere.
Actually, planes fly slower in the northern hemisphere. If you've ever actually flown outside of the UK, you can watch the airspeed of the plane you're flying in. From my experience, the plane usually flies around 250-350 miles an hour. Commercial airliners have the capabilities of flying more than twice that speed.

Longest straight line you can sail on the earth is this. There are no real straight lines on a sphere's surface, they're replaced with arcs of great circles (being the shortest path between two points on the surface, like a line is the shortest path between two points on a plane, the geodesics of their respective geometries). When projected onto a 2D map great circles will appear curved.

Only by changing your starting conditions, which gives the game away anon. You can't start with what Newton did and not derive newton's laws.
Or Einstein having 2 assumptions for the derivation of special relativity, the speed of light being constant (well observed and measured) and that nothing can exceed that speed (also well observed).
What does linear algebra or discrete maths have to do with this?
And spherical geometry we use for distances on the earth's surface is non-euclidean by definition. The metric is different and at a fundamental level there's a different mathematical topology.

No, they are proven. You are just too stupid to accept new information.
The Theory of Relativity is proven by it's predictive capability in GPS satellites, and Einstein's mathematics (off the top of my head).
Quantum theory is proven by photo electrons being emitted at finite energy levels, or quanta.
The theory of gravity is proven by curvature of light in space, things falling to the ground, and numerous other nuances.
The "theory" of earth being round is proven by Greek mathematics (two sticks in different cities, find the difference in the shadow cast by both, use information to calculate arch length and then radius) which is basic as fuck mathematics by the way, as well as observational evidence of the world not being fucking flat.
Every theory in science is 100% proven. The only way you could despite this is by bringing up a principal of tangible uncertainty, or in laymen's terms, "You can't 100% prove anything and therefore you can't know anything".
No, they are proven, and because you aren't a scientist, I would like you to refrain from making retarded judgement on how we operate.

>You can literally create whatever "spaces" you want and can define whatever laws you want for those spaces.
No, they all follow the axioms of a vector space actually, and have many common properties.
Mathematics is one thing you can objectively prove since it's a logical system built up from simple axioms (currently the ZFC axioms) and is consistent.
> Have you ever even considered...what if we are wrong? What if we and all of those who came before us were wrong about things?
We know our current physical theories are only approximations most likely, they do however make excellent testable predictions and have been validated and are incredibly useful.
It's why we still use Newtonian physics at low speeds even though it's technically been superseded by relativity, it's a good approximation when your velocity is low.
>Do you ever wonder why general relativity and quantum mechanics don't mesh?
Yes, it's like the central question in physics today, I actually understand on a basic level what goes wrong in quantum gravity, the whole thing becomes non-normalisable.

because the moon's rotation is in sync with it's orbit, so it always faces us.

Uh, actually you could also say that dividing by no actual quantity, results in no change.
If you have and apple and cut it in half, you're dividing it by 2, and end up with 2 slices of the apple.
If you don't cut it, that's equivalent to dividing it by 0, you are not dividing it at all. It remains the same.
>>74550382
Oh, don't worry, we are more than willing to accept that theories can be challenged, but because the ones I mentioned are intertwined with a solid view of reality, they could only feasibly be wrong on a technicality.
However, the models that they are used to explain reality and then predict reality are 100%, as proven by the fact that they work. Yes, they could be wrong in some ways. For example, we don't call classical physics bullshit because it only describes accurately phenomena travelling at a tiny fraction of the speed of light. Newtonian physics predicts what it can predict, and relativity does the rest.
>>74550531
But what about the space station and satellites, why don't they ever capture images of the far side of the moon from orbit?
>>74550361
Yes, DSCOVR sits near Earth-Sun L1 point, so is in a good position to see things like this, however it's slightly offset so it's not perfectly in line with the sun, that may not have been an actual eclipse due to the moon's inclination to the ecliptic.
See the diagram on the left here.

The difference is that the earth is flat. Analyse a shill source properly and you will find that they are consistent, and not in fact shill sources.

No, tidal locking between two bodies of similar enough size like earth/moon is inevitable. The moon slowly leeches angular momentum from the earth (slowing its spin) and so increasing its orbital period until it matches the length of the lunar "day", this point is then a stable equilibrium so the moon stays like that. 4 billion years and two bodies like the earth and moon and it's almost inevitable that happens.

Yes, I get what you are saying. Let it be known that I assume nothing either way. There is no information to be gained beneath the surface in that image, period, regardless of what i have implied, end of story.
>>74552475
cool theory bro. i'm still not convinced. tidal locking theory is just more NASA propaganda
>>74552603
I don't remember that part of the bible.
>>74552492
how is it spinning in its own indepenent axis if it is tidal locked? you contradict yourself
>>74552531
>>earth locks 1 side of the moon HURR
You have no idea what you're on about do you?
The side that faces us is arbitrary and happened by chance. But over a billion years the earth's gravity exerted a torque on the moon slowing its rotation to match its orbital period, hence we only see the same side of it.
Look to the horizon in the sea
You will se curvature at the end
The earth is not flat ;)
>>74552419
The Soviets followed Apollo 11 to the moon, tracking it all the way. They would have called bullshit at any funny business.
So either NASA sent the spacecraft unmanned and faked the footage (why would they need to if they were going anyway unmanned?) or it happened.
>>74552573
>man walked on moon
what is Van Allen radiation belt for 500 alex
Just a general question, how many of your flat earthers believe in evolution?
>>74552641
>tidal locking theory is just more NASA propaganda
But you can literally observe it. We see the same side of the moon, ergo it is tidally locked to the earth.
>>74552586
exactly my point. we live on a flat earth with no curvature
>>74552641
No, it is perfectly reasonable. It is a solid extrapolation from very basic orbital mechanics.
http://www.mathpages.com/home/kmath114/kmath114.htm
You don't need to understand the intricacies, all you need to know is that gravity, working as we know it does, facilitates slingshot maneuvers. That energy is taken from the body that has been used for the slingshot.
This concept is similar to what happened in this case, but only in terms of the fact that energy is taken from the "host" body.
Tidal locking is a little different to that.
It is the best theory to describe it. Know, we don't "know" that this is why his happened, but it is a 100% solid explanation.
>>74543040
The amount of stupidity surrounding this belief is very sad. And makes me lose any faith I have remaining in mankind. A lot of these people tend to be highly religious too. Which is another sad practice.
If only all of these idiots could of been aborted, we'd be so much more technologically advanced as a species than we are currently. I hope one day we're able to do a test to measure an unborn child's potential intelligence, and if they don't pass a certain threshold they are aborted.
Into the trash they go. Into the trash with your flat earth theory bullshit. Fuck you, there is no god. Please kill yourselves and rid the world of your cancerous ways.
>>74552687
>how is it spinning in its own indepenent axis if it is tidal locked? you contradict yourself
Tidal locking does not mean it doesn't spin you braindead mongoloid faggot.
It means it spins at the same rate as it rotates, so the same side of the moon faces us all the time.
Imagine if the earth rotated once per month, the moon would not move in the sky and the earth would be tidally locked to the moon, showing one side of the earth only to observers on the moon.
>>74552641
Yeah no. Develop the equations of motion for a non-point-mass in orbit and you'll find that the minimum energy is obtained when gravitational locking occurs. Pic related, if you can read past the sand runes. 1/2.

He could have been consulting them for
2001, space odyssey. How the fuck do we know.
>>74552763
There are places on the moon in which the radiation is significantly less. For a small amount of time a belt between the dark and light side are of suitable temperatures.
Again, you really need to learn your nuance mate. You obvious don't know the whole story.
Scientists know about the van allen belt, we get that it fucking exits. This is no grand secret you have uncovered. Professionals that came from similar walks of life to you have known of this and still believe in the moo landing, simply because there is in fact a time and place on the moon that is safe.

He was baiting... Of course water can curve is something is pulling down on it from all angles. It isn't rigid.
>>74552688
or so the theory goes...
>The Soviets followed Apollo 11 to the moon, tracking it all the way
i call bullshit on that. also JFK promised man on the moon before the end of the 60s. obviously our technology couldn't accomodate this which is why they hired the best film director to fake it.
>>74552820
You're dumb.
>>74552763
Not enough to harm you on a 3 day trip to moon where you spend at most a day in them
>>74553012
>I call bullshit
>Obviously
>or so the theory goes
You have no clue. You make these statements without any evidence. You completely dismiss that which you do not understand.
>>74552842
the earth and moon are barely 6 billion years old. there's no way the kinectic rotation of the moon would have stopped so soon
>>74551514

you can even see the ISS, hell you can track it online and have your telescope ready

Come of it Nigel, they had one single black shuttle astronaut and when his shuttle flew to the inner boundary of the belts he chimped out over the smell of KFC emanating from his crew mates.
Actually a true story only slightly embellished.
>>74553012
>i call bullshit on that.
Why would the soviets allow you to fake it during the height of the cold war? When they could easily tell a fake? At the time apollo 11 was on the moon they crashed an attempted unmanned probe by accident elsewhere even. You have no evidence and are just spouting crap like
>obviously
>or so the theory goes
You're ignoring anything you dislike and have no idea what you're talking about 99% of the time.
The soviets even tested their own moon lander in orbit, but they never got their Saturn V equivalent, the N1 rocket, to fly without it blowing up and the programme got cancelled in favour of space stations.

just take a look at it it's made of tinfoil lmao

I'm done. Thanks for wasting my time.
what would happen if a sun made of sun and a sun made of ice collided

You know that division isn't what you want it to be.
It has a definition, it's related to multiplication and inverse. This is exactly what algebra is. Having basic concepts, not arithmetical, and expressing a lot of common mathematical constructions according to this theory.
Then it outputs a result for a given set of arguments, according to this definition. It could also have forbidden inputs. But it has a semantic you can't change.
If you modify that, like you add a rule to change a resulting value, it's not the same operation. It's not division, it's "division". Do you understand that?
im baiting lol. im tired now though
thought i should let you know
