Best state, our lakes provide us with nearly unlimited fresh water as they're pretty much inland seas, lots of forests and nature reserves, great gun laws, and everyone outside of the metro areas is based.
Only downsides are Dearborn and Detroit.

Grand Rapids is pretty nice, but there are still a large amounts of non-whites here, I'd say like 15 - 20%. But anywhere in Michigan is infinitely better than California, we have open carry laws and stand your ground laws, and there's snow on the ground half the year. I love it here. Plenty of things to do throughout metropolitan Detroit and the entire upper two thirds of the state is basically forest. Nothing like going up north with your bros, hiking through Sleeping Bear Dunes and then going to Shorts brewery for some beers.

I grew up in a really affluent suburb of Detroit called Bloomfield Hills. Incredibly good public schools, nonexistent crime, overall a great place to raise a family. I have fond memories but it is admittedly nothing like the rest of the state.
The rest of the state is poor, but there's an incredible amount of natural beauty. Lots of beaches with pretty lighthouses, forests full of deer.

CONS: Flint, and parts of Detroit are shit. Jobs are hit or miss unless you are an automotive engineer or something. Lots of corruption in all levels of govt.
