The internet provides all the information and knowledge these days. Apprenticeships are no longer needed, and are used in most cases to get some free labour in the name of education.

Has to be the worst job in the military. 50% of our squadron was on some kind of antidepressants or benzos or something, or had fucked up backs, or fucked up home lives because of the work schedule, or something fucked up that made them undeployable. 90% hated their jobs and life. Then every month we would have a briefing where the commander is dumb-founded that our squadron and base topped the charts of the entire airforce for suicides, AWOL, and the abysmally low "airman readiness" (eligible for deployment). I haven't done much woodwork, but I have done some tool restoration projects. I posted a thread about it on DIY a year ago or so to showcase my work, but it gained very little traction.
Woodwork looks like fun, but I'm a smaller-scale artisan. I've made things like custom guitar picks and swords, tonfas, etc.

I hope not. Yeah, everything I build is pretty basic. I use all mortise and tenon, box, or rabet/dado joinery though, so the stuff holds up fairly well, it's relatively inexpensive for custom work, and my customers love it. Couldn't ask for more.
