I went into this election thinking "holy fuck all these candidates are horrible". I was disgusted by the evangelical shills spending the entire debates talking about banning abortion and unwinnable social issues.
I didn't like Trump because I still remembered him from 2012 dicking around and making a lot of talk about running just to get press for his show. I though he was doing the same this time, but by the 2nd debate he was winning me over. The first time I really rooted for him was when he was destroying Rand Paul. I was leaning mostly towards Bernie, but gave Trump some of my attention because he was funny. After actually listening to what he had to say, I began to unironically support him.

Up until this election I had never voted. I considered myself a liberal, but I never really got into politics. Probably doesn't matter much since I am not an American, but when I first heard he was running for president, I thought it would be great for some laughs. I kinda followed the 2012 elections so I remembered how hilarious the entire ordeal could get, but I was a bit too young then to fully understand it. Then I started hearing about what Trump actually wanted to achieve and his points against the rapefugees plus his political incorrectness made him very appealing to me. So yeah, can't pinpoint a precise moment, but it happened fairly quickly.

Trump never won me over, but he did wind up being the closest person to what I would really want in a candidate.
A good nation is comprised and lead by its founding sort, keeps women in their place and is still expanding aggressively and self-interestedly. I work in the media. During the summer, everyone was making fun of Trump and nobody took it seriously.
One day I happened to visit here -- it was right after he visited the border and met with the border guards. And there was a kind of energy that I found hard to describe. I'd never seen it before.
I watched a rally and saw the same thing. These things are usually rote, and in the summer candidates have to really ride their supporters hard to get anyone to show up, much less applaud and show any enthusiasm. But Trump rallies were packed.
You literally saw a movement form -- he latched on to the "silent majority" and that's probably the best, but it's literally a movement of the dispossessed, the pissed off, the ones that are taken for granted.
I'm pretty sure I was the only reporter in my department that was pro-Trump. I would guess at least half of them are now, and that number is growing.

I was mostly for him as soon as I found out he was running because I have been single-issue on immigration since 2012 or 2013. I didn't know if he was THE guy, though, since Ted Cruz was also posturing as strongly as he was on immigration.

After the first debate. I thought he was an idiot, and I thought the campaign was a joke. When I saw how little he actually considered the mainstream media's opinions, it was almost like a switch. He didn't back down, no matter what he said. Even though some say that's done, it's the principle that matters. As the race went on I followed who was winning and who wasn't, and the entirety of the coverage seemed to be about "it's disgusting that trump has any numbers at all." The only hang ups I really have are that his tax plans will add more money to the deficit and I'm not fond of his rhetoric of interrupting our recent pivot towards friendlier relations with Iran. I personally despise Saudi Arabia and sunnis in general. I'm not too fond of Trump's personality either, but that wouldn't stop me from voting for him if some of my worries could be placated.

I thought to myself "if he is such a terrible person, how is he still even a contender for the nomination". So I researched why Trump was evil
All I found were the same few quotes over and over. All of them didn't actually mean he was a bad person. They could all easily be taken the wrong way. I realized he obviously wasn't evil. Looked more at what he wanted to do. It became increasingly clear that none of the other candidates were people who could get done the things I wanted to get done.
Trump wanted things I wanted.
He refused to be PC.
He was anti-establishment.
His business background and "deal making" are the right combination for a politician who will fight for the things he needs to get done, but can compromise in order to get something at least profitable out of the arrangement
