Taxation is not theft. The United States Constitution asserts, in Article I Section 8, that Congress has the right to "lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare". This has been interpreted by courts.
While taxation itself is not, in essence, theft, there are things that can be done better about the current way we tax citizens and organizations. Any taxation that is levied should result in programs, services, and other efforts which benefit the people paying those taxes.
