I hoe it exists because this life is too short and thus meaningless. Unless the point is to achieve technological immortality, in which case I feel bad for all the people that came before us. Then again, this life sure gets old fast.
An eternal life, assuming that there is no way to die, would put the world in an interesting dillemma:
