Basically, people waited more than 16 hours in the convention and temporary rules were introduced which included refusing 64 delegates from entering. The speaker actually asked for nay/yeas on whether or not to use the temporary rules, although she completely ignored the results and said it was incontestable. When someone called for a motion in recounting the delegates at the convention, Roberta Lange went up on stage quickly read from a piece of paper ignored the nay/yeas once again and abruptly ended the convention. This was then followed by outrage from delegates. I watched most of what happened on a periscope stream, democracy was ridiculed last night.

nvm got it.

Apparently they kept out Bernie delegates during the vote so Shillary won.

delegate votes(64 of them) for barney switched to independant before the commission took their votes for the party and thus invalidated their votes entirely. Blame bernie supporters for their own retardation
>>

It depends on the Bernouts. Some of them aren't voting for Bernie's policies, they're voting for Bernie to burn the current system down. A lot of them will jump to Trump.

Sanders people brick-walled every procedure and the conference head, having no idea what to do, attempted to pass measures to force compromise, which Sanders people proceeded to attack as if she just said she would take away their neetbux. To prevent what was quickly devolving into a riot on the floor, the conference staff called police and had the hear adjourn by dictating that the delegates would be split according to electoral votes (small win Hillary) instead of r1 votes (big Hillary) or r2 (big Sanders) .

I have really no clue what is going on here. Can you please try to explain it to someone from a real democracy?

And I already kinda somewhat know what delegates are. But as far as I understand people vote for delegates and then those delegates vote for the candidate that they said, they would support (although they are not legally bound to do it).

And now what happened exactly? Some of those already elected berny delegates, left the democratic party and are no longer allowed to vote? Is this just in one state, or is this the final thing where the already elected delegates choose the candidate. If so, this it even matter if those 64 berny idiots are missing?

Also WTF america, get your shit together. That system is silly as fuck.

>>
>>74122095
This split between Hillaryites and Berners is definitely something to take advantage of. Divide and conquer. There are ways to help grow the split.
>>
>>74128559
You could start by electing alternative parties to the parliaments. This two party system is silly and those parties have way too much power. It can't be that 90% of the presidential election process is dependent on the goodwill of a private organization.

Maybe I get it wrong, but as far as I understand, the average american has only a choice between two people in the presidential election. If you want to have a word in those primaries? you need to be a registered member on either of the two big parties. This alone is completely stupid, you should have a list from every party where you can at least decide from multiple people. Not that it changes much, but to only have a choice between hillary and trump is absolutely insane.
>>
Hillary won the popular vote in NV.

What the fuck are these Bernie fags complaining about?

A split is about as fair as you could hope as a bernie supporter? How to fuck is giving the loser more delegates even close to democratic?

Bernie fags need to run you're own party if you don't like the democratic rules. You can have a leader selected by mob rule or simple throw a bunch of pointed sticks in a pit and the last man standing decides the candidate.

Do it however you idiots want, but take your shit show far away from the democratic party. I'm starting to fucking hate bernie. I loved him before, but he can't keep is fucktard cultist in line.
>>
>>74122095
which one would you rather get AIDS?
>>
>>74129182

The two party system isn't by law, there are tons of third parties that never win because they don't have a broad enough appeal. The system works great because each candidate has to appeal to pretty much half the country, so you don't get extremists when the opposition is split.

Yeah, you can only choose between two people in the general election, but Sanders has already shifted Hillary closer to his positions.
>>
>>74129182
The American two party system is more complex than your fellow European memers make it out to be honestly.

The Republican and Democratic parties are glorified coalitions at this point. The tea party, Southern Democrats and RINOs are all examples of sub factions within the party. Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton would be in completely different parties, as would Trump and Cruz. Instead of voting on 5 different dudes on election day, the "coalitions" choose their flag carriers in the primaries.

A lot of people complain about "muh 2 choices." but that's because they're faggots who only focus on politics during the GE debates. Libertarians and Tea Party voted for Rand Paul, social Democrats voted for Bernie Sanders, Zealots voted for Cruz, etc.
>>
the only thing more annoying than these threads popping up every hour is the smug insistence that 'nobody but me is talking about this!'
>>
>>74126459
>>74129182

The reason it seems all fucked up is because the primaries are a completely private election.

Both the Democrat and Republican parties are private organizations, organized almost like a corporation. Primaries are used to find who will be the actual candidate in the actual election: primaries are a private election among the party ranks to find the leader that best represents them. They have no legal or state backing. The reason the rules seem so obtuse is because as a NGO, the parties can do what ever the fuck they want with their own internal processes; also EVERY state Democrat or Republican party is nominally independent to some degree, and often have different rules on bounded/unbounded deglates for example. The parties are VERY decentralized in America; the Republican party of New York is COMPLETELY different from the Republican party of say Texas, although both regard themselves as Republican and will work together to get a Republican to the white house.

Also, there is nothing stopping another party from running. There are over a dozen over parties but they do not have the funding or support to raise a significant amount of the vote. Mostly the "two party system" is inherent to the first-past-the-post system we have in America, but there have been cases of third parties gaining influence enough to challenge the two parties (Ross Perot, the election of 1860, the various populist and socialist movements, etc). There is also the party split/switch that happened in the 1970's, and the great reorganization of the parties that are happening now....

I wonder how many angry Bernie voters are going to vote for the Donald in November.
>>
>>74130191
It is really disgusting how uninformed most of the voters are about the process in this country.

Most people I talked to from age 40-60 about politics seemed to think that voting in the presidential primary was an extension of the electoral process.

They treat me with light disdain when they ask me what political party I am and I say I'm an independent.

Playing the fucking national anthem before the "debates" reinforces this false idea. They're not debates, just an ignore the stump questions and talk about whatever you want session.

I still think you really should vote more for alternative parties. It doesn't seem right, that those two giants can decide with obscure rules, who is going to be the single one presidential candidate.

But maybe it's just that I think it's kinda dump anyways to vote for the executive. In Switzerland we can't elect our 7 "presidents", they are chosen by the parliament, unfortunately also in a not so optimal way.

Not long ago there was a vote to change the system and let the public vote for the executive, but it didn't pass. I bet you having a hard time believing this, but it truly think this was the right choice.
>>
>>74130881
Millennials hate Trump, but they hate Hillary as well. I wonder if 3rd party gets popular with them

But anyways, basically some old bitch passed this rule despite most people in the crowd saying no and they changed the rules so that shilldawg won
>>
>>74129804
The system "works great" because you people are beyond brainwashed. The two party system assumes the appearance of a federal institution by taking the spot light in the media and drowning out the opposition especially with the primaries spectacle, and thats what it is a spectacle.
People honestly think that the 2 party system is a federal system and that is why when one of the parties "breaks the rules" people cry foul and say that their democracy is being trampled on even though what a party did is "ok in the eyes of the law because they are private institutions".

Nothing illegal needs to take place if people take the system for granted and believe certain assumptions which are passively adapted from watching their msm and reading "goldbergstiens" news articles and blogs.

shillary's stooges don't want sanders to catch up on delegates because they don't really believe that she's "inevitable". they're pavid vermin.
>>
>>74131005
Normally it works out ok but this year is absolute madness. The establishment is pissed trump won and tried everything to make him lose without throwing the party into chaos (cheating the voters). The democrats are quietly burying Bernie, but his supporters are picking up on it. Just wait until he loses, which he will, because he isn't getting enough votes at all. The democrats will have a wild ride. Basically, the people are pissed at the establishment and have been for a while, and it is all exploding through all at once in both parties. This year is an anomaly in American politics
