Two things:
1.) As newly elected leader of the RNC it is his job to assist in gaining money from donors for local and state level elections.
2.) Even Trump doesn't have the billions it takes to compete in a general election in liquid assets.

I think there is a resurgence of Anti-Trumpism because at this point in time Trumpettes have not yet learned how to accept donor money. And I think we are going to be part of the throes of that transformation, which must take place. Donald Trump is not going to be self-funded as he was in the primaries. Donors are going to be at the center of that. It's a huge transformation for Trump to make. Donald Trump is now going into multi-donor mode and donors will be resented because of their leading role.
