Islam is based on the principle of tahweed, roughly translated as "oneness".
They are supposed to believe in a single god (allah), to hold a single religion (islam). Up until them no problemos, same thing with most monotheist religions.
But, and here is the first real problem: islam preach that Muslims are subjects to a single law, sent by allah himself, and that should be followed unconditionally.
The name of this law is Sharia Law and it is mostly based on the teachings of the koran and, also, in the hadiths, the accounts of the life of their prophet as told by his companions. Think of it as the Gospel plus the Acts of the Apostles in the Christian Bible.
According to islam following any other law, specially man made law is completley forbidden and grounds for "apostasy" (leaving the religion). Mandatory punishment for apostasy is death.
Second problem, also derived from tahweed is that islam preaches that the whole muslim world is one people, without allegiance to any tribe, country or any other division. This people (the "ummah") are not to be loyal to any country, state or sovereign, their loyalty are to be to allah only and to its single appointed leader, the caliph.
In short: muslims by the commandments of their own bloody religions should reject democracy (as man made laws) in favour to sharia, and oppose national countries and boundaries in favour of their own people. They are not supposed to be loyal to any country that hosts them and only suppose to tolerate local customs and religions as long as they don't have the upper hand.
I doubt any ISIS scholar or member would disagree with anything I wrote up here. The rest of the muslim world would, but probably out of ignorance of their own religion.
