I just tested making some hardtack biscuits, a food that can be stored for long periods of time.

So /pol/ what have you done to help you survive the fall of western civilisation?

Pictures are appreciated.

>>
>>74108540
We'll see. I'm optimistic that he's already polling so well against Hillary and the debates haven't even started yet.

The demographics this year are going to swing wildly, just you watch. There's also millions of people who have never voted before that will make all the difference.

Hillary is an incredibly weak candidate, Trump has better chances than most people think. We'll fix America and then maybe come help out Europe maybe.

If it were a long term situation:
5. Rain collecters need to be erected from trash cans / upside down jerry cans cut in half attached to tubes most likely
6. Plant crops. Would need a greenhouse of some kind for the winter. Can construct out of plastic sheets - perhaps trash bags or unused windows from cars or rooms that we have boarded up.

take welding classes, electrical classes, plumbing, etc

Or get a job as a construction helper and learn how to build shit and use tools.

You should do this anyways, save yourself lots of money

Buying land with no property tax in the Unorganized Borough, Alaska, is a good long term investment. The land is essentially yours for all eternity and can't be taken away if you don't have cash to pay property tax. The main problem is that most of the land has no road access, and is at least 2 hours away from a town by boat. I'm saving up for a plot one day.

Myself and two friends plan to bug out to a third's farm.

We've got a well, a year's worth of food for four, everything we'd need to maintain a decently sized subsistance farm, and unlike most similar setups we have a full machine shop. We put the plan together when Ebola-chan had just started her big flare-up, and have been maintaining it since. We get together fairly often to practice self sufficiency while getting drunk. Considering we built a still, we can do both at the same time.

I'm looking forward to the end, its going to be a nice vacation from all this bullshit.

I make my own waterproofing out of beeswax, linseed oil, turpentine and pine tar. Been building tents and other garments out of canvas for a few years now. Also have a gold claim way the fuck up in the mtns with a fairly decent cabin. Pretty much everything I would ever need to survive too wise is out there, and great hunting in the area. Very secluded and extremely inaccessible. Pic related is from the area right before you start hiking down to the creek.
>>
>>74113361
The NW passage exits at the northern slope of Alaska--you don't want to live there. It's an irrelevant consideration. The most survivable areas are the islands in the southern panhandle. The more remote, the less the land costs. You can get several acres in the absolute middle of nowhere, a few days travel by Kayak from the nearest road-access town, for 50k, but you will have to build ALL of your infrastructure--your own dock, your own water and electrical systems, EVERYTHING. Bringing construction materials to remote locations is also expensive if not impossible.

I recommend studying construction, and basic survival/medical stills in the lower 48 before ever attempting to go to Alaska. Treat it as a life-long pursuit--chances are you wont' need it, but by the time you die, you can have a nice insurance policy to hand down to your kids.

The land we own is about 1.5 hectare big and has a large fence around it. In case of war I guess we'll farm on it.

Surviving a colossal happening in the scale of Yellowstone, a meteor, nuclear war, or mega-earthquakes + tsunamis, depends 100% on circumstance and geography.

If youre in a city, youre dead.

If youre in a coastal area, youre dead.

If youre near the epicentre, youre dead.

If youre near a volcano, youre dead.

Basically the only real scenarios, where you can plan and prepare for are:

>economic collapse and the anarchy that follows
>global food crisis, which also collapses the economy and causes anarchy

So essentially you need to have:

>knowledge
>a patch of land where noone will stumble upon you
>SEEDS
>water filatration/collection devices

If you live in Scandinavia, you either know how to prepare for and survive for winter, or youll starve/freeze in the first chill.

If you live in Greece/Spain and dont know where to find water and how to treat it, youll die.

If you live in the UK and dont have a butterknife, youll get killed by the deadly wheel-wielding gangs.

Ideally get:

>seeds
>salt
>vitamins

Wars are won by arms and supplies. If either falters, the war is lost.

I accepted a long time ago that I'm not going to survive it.

I'm just here to watch it happen.

Those classes take several semesters, and I'm already in college.

Only in a zombie/disease scenario would that work. The navy would probably rob you if it were a global war.

We are learning to live like our grandparents did, which reduces our dependency on modern technology, and lowers our monthly bills.
Have also gotten healthier with more manual labor and healthy foods.
Why wait for things to fall apart?

I don't blame you. Life is way to comfy now to ever go back to living off the land. You will be uncomfortable and miserable 90% of the time and that's when you are in good health. Chances are you will be sick a lot on top of that too. I don't know how wild animals do it.

I want to prep a bit, but I just don't want to find out I wasted money when nothing happens. Don't get me wrong, I WANT the happening to happen, but as each year passes, it seems less and less likely.

I'd give anything to have the grid go down.

To all those who claimed they will kill themselves:

Why don't you join the fight instead?
