Serious question. In my view, there are two 'solutions' which would end the so-called Native question once and for all:
1) do as the white paper suggested and abolish Indian status. All native Canadians would become regular citizens of Canada, with all the befits gained and lost by this change. This would forever silence the claim that Native communities don't receive funding equal to that received by communities of regular Canadian citizens.
2) Full sovereignty to all Indian bands. Would result in the creating of several dozen (or several hundred, the details would be complicated to figure out) new independent countries or confederacies of Native bands, cutting all political ties between Native communities and the Canadian government.
The other option is to do what we have always done; keep shelling out tax dollars and privileges to Indians while never solving any of the numerous social problems experienced by many native communities, while simultaneous being berated by SJWs and Chiefs that Native communities don't receive enough funding.
What do you think of all this? Do either of option 1 or option 2 appeal to you? Can you think of any other 'solutions' to the problem of Indian affairs in this country?
